Operation Successful

The first time I heard the name - Operation Falafel - I was a bit skeptical as to why would someone name it that way, but my relatives had suggested that this is a good place and we should go there. We did. And have been going there very often since.

Their concept is based around local street food, which we also understand from their tagline - "Because Street Food is for Everyone".

The first time when I dined here, they had just two outlets. As of writing this blog they have four. You can check out their website for the updated list of locations. They've been expanding like crazy, and why not. The food is really delicious and the staff is courteous.

They had just opened their Downtown outlet a couple of months ago, and being a fan of this place, my family and I decided to check it out.

As soon as you step inside, you know you are in the right place. The interiors carry the same theme - Cream-ish brown with yellow lights everywhere. They have a caricature of Dubai downtown put up there.

Just like every time, this time too, we started by ordering a stuffed falafel platter. They were freshly made, served hot. Delicious is an understatement. They serve it along with some hummus, a little bit of salad and not to forget, the bread. Their bread is hot and fluffy and that by itself adds on a lot to the taste of the falafel.

They keep refilling the bread as you have it.

Also, many times we order the spicy potato which is quite good, but this time we chose a more cliched - french fries. And ya, before you pass a judgement, my parents are vegetarians. So the choices are a bit limited.

The french fries looked really tempting. They tasted good too, but frankly, as soon as the falafels arrived, we sort of forgot about the fries altogether.

This place also has some lovely Manaeesh. We ordered the Bulghari Manaeesh. It's got Bulghari cheese, with tomatoes, onions and olive oil. They also served it with a little mint leaf on top. This enhanced the flavour, and also gave it a lovely appearance.
It was mouth watering.

As far as the drinks are concerned, I like their Shanina. It is very similar to Laban/Doogh/Ayran. I order it almost every time that I'm here. I feel this one has a bit of a tangy taste to it. I personally love it.

We had some more place in our stomach, and were in the mood for some hummus. They have quite a few varieties of it. The 'Hummus fattet bilaban' caught my attention. It had yoghurt, olive oil, parsley and more to it. This was new. Yoghurt in hummus. Interesting.
It looked really delicious when it arrived at our table.
As a dish, it tasted really very good. We liked it, but as hummus, I wouldn't say it did justice. We could taste mostly the yoghurt, and less of the hummus.

There was this staff member who was from their JBR outlet and my dad recognized him and we chatted for a bit. He told us that their motor city outlet has opened too. He took feedback about the food, seating et all. Later, also gave us a complimentary Muhalabia. Oh by the way, it's really delicious. Not too sweet, not too thick; just right.

The staff in general is attentive and courteous. Also, they're always smiling.
A little something that bothered us though, are the chairs. They chairs aren't the most comfortable ones around. Especially if you're a bit hefty, they hurt your thighs. Their other outlets, additionally have another type of chair apart from this one. But this particular outlet doesn't. So even if you're sitting for a short while, it is irritating.

Another good thing is that the parking isn't a hassle either. There's the basement parking on the boulevard street' the entrance of which is very near to this outlet, and when you park, you can take the lift number 5 which gets you near the restaurant.

Overall, it was a nice dining experience. It certainly lives up to what the other outlets provide. Will be back here soon.
