Burmese Noodles (Khow Suey) - Vegan Recipe

Image
This is one of the recipes by my mom which I totally love and I'm glad to share it here. This is a Vegan version which uses coconut milk. You can substitute it for regular milk if you don't want it vegan.  Also, the main curry is totally oil-free. Oil is used only in the garnish.  Ingredients: 5 cups boiled noodles For the tomato paste: 2 tomatoes, 2 onions, 5 cloves garlic, 2 tbsp chopped ginger, 3 green chillies, 1/2 tspn turmeric powder, salt to taste Grind the above ingredients into a smooth paste. For the curry: 6 cups chopped mixed vegetables (carrot, cabbage, french beans, cauliflower, green peas) 400 ml coconut milk 1 1/2 tbsp besan (gram flour) salt to taste Method for the curry: Mix the gram flour in the coconut milk evenly so that no lumps are formed. Keep aside. Heat a pan and pour the tomato paste in it. Let it cook for 5-7 mins. Pour the chopped mixed vegetables, and add the salt. Pour 4-5 cups of water and let the vegetab...

Soul Sante - vegan, gluten free, soy free, sugar free cafe

Image
This is a newly started cafe that is Vegan, soy free, sugar free, and gluten free. I've recently taken a liking towards vegan food and was looking forward to checking it out when they invited me.  I liked the interiors; they have an earthy feeling with some plants dotted around the place. This certainly gives a very healthy feel to it. The restaurant also has a partially open kitchen. They have really interesting items on the menu and we started with the beetroot sliders . It is a whole grain bun with a nice beetroot patty inside along with tomato, lettuce and purple cabbage. For someone who isn't much of a beetroot fan, I really liked this burger. It is also guilt free.  Then we had the quinoa biryani . This was more like a pulav, and had mostly just broccoli in it among the vegetables. The spices too were on the lower side, and I would have liked it to have some more flavour. Although, it's not bad considering that they make it without any oil. It is served wit...

Tum Tum Asia - vegan review

Image
My family has recently got into vegan food and we thought of trying some. Usually we end up at a vegetarian Indian restaurant which has a lot of vegan dishes, but this time we wanted to try out something different. Tum Tum Asia is one of the very few (or perhaps the only) vegetarian Asian restaurant that I know of, and majority of the items on the menu are available in vegan  variants. (P.S. Items on their menu with the vegan symbol can be made vegan on request and may not necessarily be vegan if you don't specify that). We went there on a weekend, but since we went early (around 8pm), it wasn't crowded, although it was packed by the time we were done with our meal. They do cater to the Indian palate too, and I say this because they have a section in their menu called "Because Indian is Pan Asian" which does have a handful of Indian items.  All items in this review are Vegan . We started with some refreshing drinks with some interesting names.  We ordered ...

Freedom Pizza - healthy and vegan options

Image
Healthy. Pizza. It's hard to imagine these two words together right? Well, now you can. This is one place which has focused a lot on what goes in their food. It is not only the pizzas which have healthier ingredients (compared to other pizza places), but also their salads, sandwiches, and desserts. They are especially focused on vegan too! This outlet is in Sharjah and the location would mostly be suited for a takeaway, since the seating is very limited too. I was recently invited here to try out their delicious food.  I've colour coded the savoury menu items: red for the ones that contain meat, and green for the ones that do not contain meat. Items that are vegan , are specifically marked. We started with a few of their salads. Now, just like me, if you aren't much of a "leafy" person, this is one salad which will still appeal to you.  It is called the skinny Mexican ; contains quinoa, mexi-sauce, sweet corn, mixed pepper, coriander, cheddar, chic...

Life n One - Healthy Vegan food

Image
This cafe focuses on the overall well-being of a person. They've got some fitness activities too apart from the healthy food.  This is a Vegan cafe, and not just that, all their items are:  Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Refined Sugar Free, GMO Free and Soy Free.  This sounded like a very interesting concept and a few of us bloggers decided to check it out.  This place is really a "hidden" gem. It's one of a kind, but it is also a little hard to find.  Once you find it, you'd feel like you've entered a garden. There's a small path that leads to the back side of this place which is where the main seating area is located. You will see a lot of natural greenery throughout this place. If you are a nature lover, this is definitely for you.  As soon as you enter, you will notice that this place also has a lot of books for you to read, and has a very calm feel to it.  They've got a lot of interesting items on their menu; all of which are healthy in ...
