Swades - Indian vegetarian snacks

Image
It was a weekend and we were looking for a quick bite so we ended up going here.  It's not a very big place but they have a good variety of options on the menu. We started with the aloo cheese onion paratha . The cheese in the paratha was melted and we couldn't see the cheese in it. We asked for more, and they were happy to give us some extra cheese. The taste of the paratha was quite good.  I ordered a dahi kachori chaat , and it was really flavourful with ample amount of dahi in it. The ragda pattice too was good enough. I would have liked the pattice itself to have more flavour but nothing to complain about.  Last, but not the least, we had a nice cuppa chai .  The service is fast, and the staff is friendly.  Our server got us the bill without asking for it, which I didn't quite like.  Click here for delicious food and lovely places around Dubai.

The Soul Bowl

This is a vegetarian review. The place delivers some nice healthy food, and offered to send me some for a review. My favourite item was the veg burrito bowl . It had a lovely combination of bell peppers, beans, eggplant, guacamole, sour cream, and rice. It was flavourful and healthy as well. The quinoa burger was interesting. The quinoa patty was really nice, although it isn't as firm as a regular patty. This, coupled along with the fact that the bun was chewy, made the burger hard to eat as it kept breaking and falling off. The flavour was not bad, but the texture could have been better. They have various Acai bowls and I had the brownie blast. I had the combination of brownies and Acai for the first time and it was really good. It was cold and sweet and I enjoyed having it. Last but not the least, I had the fruit fiesta smoothie which had a berry like flavour to it and was refreshing. The food is quite nice overall as well as healthy.

Peppermill - vegetarian review

I was looking for a good Indian restaurant to go to for my parent's anniversary, and decided on this one.  It definitely feels upmarket, though not flashy, but a bit on the casual side.  Since my parents are vegetarians, this review includes only vegetarian dishes. That being said, the vegetarian dishes here are a bit innovative (read different) than most places, and if you aren't the experimental type, you might not have much of a choice.  As we ordered our food, they got us some makhana (a.k.a. lotus seeds / foxnuts ) to munch on. I personally really like it and wonder why many places don't have these. Since chaat is an all-time favourite, we started with the chaat platter . It has a good selection of items including samosas, pani puri, aloo tikki, dahi wada, and palak chaat. It tasted really good overall, and especially the pani-puri which doesn't always taste great at a fine diner. Next for appetisers was Paniyaaram . These are mini rice pancakes ma...

Casa Da Venice - Vegetarian Italian

Image
Italian cuisine has always intrigues me, because every time I visit an Italian restaurant, I find something new.  When they invited us to try out their food, I was really looking forward to their wonderful pure vegetarian offerings. After having the food, I really did not miss out on the non-veg at all. Read on to find out... We started with some of their drinks. The Shirley temple is what I liked the most. It was served in a bulb shaped glass which made it look even more appealing.  The virgin mojito was refreshing too, but was nothing different from the ordinary.  Their bruschetta was also a mouthful, as opposed to a lot of other places where it tastes bland. It had some cheese too and was certainly worth a try.  Another interesting starter was the corn cheetos . It is a grilled corn on cob that's coated with Jack cheese and crushed cheetos. This looked interesting, and tasted great too, but was a bit hard to eat.  I'm a fan of Aranci...

Freedom Pizza - healthy and vegan options

Image
Healthy. Pizza. It's hard to imagine these two words together right? Well, now you can. This is one place which has focused a lot on what goes in their food. It is not only the pizzas which have healthier ingredients (compared to other pizza places), but also their salads, sandwiches, and desserts. They are especially focused on vegan too! This outlet is in Sharjah and the location would mostly be suited for a takeaway, since the seating is very limited too. I was recently invited here to try out their delicious food.  I've colour coded the savoury menu items: red for the ones that contain meat, and green for the ones that do not contain meat. Items that are vegan , are specifically marked. We started with a few of their salads. Now, just like me, if you aren't much of a "leafy" person, this is one salad which will still appeal to you.  It is called the skinny Mexican ; contains quinoa, mexi-sauce, sweet corn, mixed pepper, coriander, cheddar, chic...
