Go Chinese

This is a delivery outlet with some interesting food options. They offered to send me some food for a review. The food was nicely packed and arrived on time. For the appetisers, we had the veg spring roll . A lot of places this is just average, but I really liked this one. The filling was nice and flavourful. They also have combos and I ordered the starter + bowl combo.  For my starter I chose the lemongrass shrimp dumpling in chilli lime soy sauce . The dumplings were delicious and the sauce really added some flavour to it.  For the bowl, it was the kung pao chicken . I wouldn't say it was the best, but it was certainly very good. We had it along with rice.  Last but not the least, we had the pad thai noodles . The quantity was really good. It could have had some more vegetables though.  Click here for interesting places around Dubai.

Chicken Cottage - Business Bay

These guys have some really good chicken. They've just opened this outlet recently and it has contactless dining. You can order through Chatfood right at the restaurant.  There are a few tables indoor as well as few outdoor which would be nice to sit during winters as it is beside the canal. We started with the grilled chicken burger meal . We chose the peri peri as our sauce. This burger was delicious. The sauce really got out the flavours and I loved it.  The french fries along with the meal were chunky and crispy just the way I like it. Next we had the bbq wings . The bbq sauce had a nice flavour but I found it to be a bit thicker than usual making the consistency a little stickier.  The cottage wrap was not bad. The taste was good enough although it could have had a little more filling in it. Overall the food was quite good.  The parking here is a bit of a pain. The baywaters tower doesn't have free parking at all. One option is to park in the RTA parking which is a 5 m

AER Restaurant and Bar

This place has a nice ambience and good music. I had been there last year, and I was recently invited again here and tried some interesting dishes.  They also have the longest bar in town.  We started with some dimsums. We totally loved the prawn har gao and called for another portion of this.  We also had the chicken kothe which was good enough, though we preferred the prawn.  If you're a fan of Edamame , you'll really like the ones here. They're coated with chilli and salt and are great.  Then we had the sicilian arancini . This one wasn't bad. It was cheesy but the flavour could have been a little better.  We then had the buffalo chicken wings . The chicken pieces were chunky and the tasted superb in buffalo sauce. They have sushi too. We had the California roll which was very good.  The avocado and prawn tempura is a cooked roll which was really delicious and we all enjoyed it.  Another main dish which I was a fan of was the wild mushroom truffle risotto . It w

This is a newly opened outlet and they invited me to try out their biryanis. They have outdoor seating as well as a few tables indoor upstairs. We started with the chicken tikka balochi . They served it along with smokey charcoal which gives a nice flavour to it.  Then we had the chicken tikka zafrani which too is served with the smokey charcoal. It has a saffron flavour to it which was nice, though a little bit on the sweeter side.  I really enjoyed the shami kebab . These are soft and flavourful. Definitely worth trying.  The seekh kebab was good enough. It tasted good, but could have been a bit softer.  For the mains, we first had the egg masala which was made in a rice flavourful gravy.  We had it along with a roomali roti which was big and served hot.  They recommended the chicken 65 biryani which is one of their top selling ones. It was my frist time trying it and it was delicious. The chunky pieces of chicken in Chinese sauces tasted interesting in a biryani.  They also ha

Sofreh - Iranian food

Image
We were in the mood for some middle Eastern food and saw this place in JLT.  When we went there, we saw that they serve Iranian food too. We started with the Mirza Ghasemi which is a dish made from charred eggplant, slow roasted tomato, garlic sauce, poached eggs. The combination sounded a little weird but it tasted great. The taste of the eggs wasn't over-powering. Next was a soupy dish - Ash . This contains whole wheat noodles, fresh herbs, lentils and cured yogurt. I've had it in another restaurant so I knew what to expect. It is topped with garlic chips and crispy onions which really adds to the flavour. It's something like an Iranian version of a lentil soup. It is a bit thick, and we had it with the hot bread that they served. Kubideh is a famour Iranian kebab and we had the kubideh wrap . The flavour of the meat was really nice. It was served along with some garlic sauce and pickles.  The service was good too.

Yalla Momos

So much has changed about this place since the last time I visited a very long time ago. They invited me to try out their newly launched items.  They have some really interesting items in their menu. A lot of variations and fusion momo options which are truly out of the box. There's something for everyone's palate. Perhaps my favourite were the Chilli cheese mushroom momos in schezwan sauce . I totally loved the Chinese flavour that it had to it.  The chicken momos in dynamite sauce were lip-smacking.  If you're a fan of butter chicken, they also have the butter chicken momos . The gravy on top really adds a lot of flavour.  If you're a fan of tandoor items, do check out the tandoori chicken momos .  I was pleasantly surprised to see sizzlers in the menu. The sizzlers contain momos along with a choice of rice or noodles. It's a nice combination.  Usually momos lack crunch, but they've come up with an interesting item called kurkure momos . These are crispy fr
