Bubo Barcelona Cafe

Image
I don't come across Spanish cuisine too often, and when Bubo Barcelona invited me for a bloggers meet, I was really excited. I had seen this restaurant a few times, since it is just outside one of the elevators at citywalk; so obviously, it is easy to access if you park in the right parking.  As soon as you enter, you'll notice the various kinds of desserts and chocolates kept there; some really interesting ones. Like the one pictured below is called "break my heart". It contains chocolate bonbons inside.  The place has a nice decor, and some outside seating too. If you're sitting outside, you'll notice the orange and blue theme which is contrasting and bright.  We started with some traditional soup. This is cold Spanish soup called the gazpacho . It had a good texture to it, and was really tangy since it is made primarily from tomato. It wasn't bad, but I think I'll have to prepare myself mentally for a cold soup first.  Then w...

Crisol - versatile culinary brilliance

Image
Crisol is a restaurant that serves a fusion of American, Spanish and Mexican; or as they call it, "a melting pot of versatile culinary brilliance". The interiors are on the darker side, and the decor is lovely. I was invited to this restaurant which is newly started.  They've got some interesting salads, which we started with. One of them was the ' Cuban '. It primarily consists of different varieties of cabbage mixed with some lip-smacking sauces, and topped with crisps. I liked this one a lot, especially the crunch that it had to it.  Another one was the ginger infused watermelon salad. It also had some feta cheese in it. It is a very interesting combination. The taste of ginger in the watermelon was very subtle, and it got further overpowered by the cheese. It was very well presented though.  For drinks, we had the passion fruit mojito . It is served in a huge beaker and tasted really very good. Has a lot of seeds of the fruit too. For appeti...

Nola Eatery and Social House

Image
An eatery that serves good food and has friendly staff. There's a bit of a zig-zag maze to get there and once you're in you'll be greeted by this very friendly and jovial person called Jad . He welcomes you with a big smile and there itself you get a feeling of Joie De Vivre . The ambiance inside is a bit dimly lit, but the have outside seating too. Also, in the middle of the restaurant is a bar, and you can make yourself comfortable on one of the bar stools if you enjoy that. For smokers, they've got an indoor smoking zone.  While waiting for our order, they got us some breads along with sun-dried tomato sauce. The sauce was good; the breads were just okay though.  To start with, we ordered empanads . They are stuffed with black eyed peas and mozarella chese. They tasted good, but a bit dry. Also, it could have had some more stuffing I felt.  For the mains, they've got a lot of choices. Something that caught our attention in the veggie jambalaya ....
