Sai dham
Having heard a lot about this place that is pure vegetarian, I decided to check this out with my folks.
As soon as you enter you get a very welcoming and traditional feel. We went here on a weekday afternoon and the place was empty. We were the only ones there until a couple entered later, and the place felt very calm just like we desired.
As some of you might have guessed from the name Sai Dham, this place has photos and quotations by Sai Baba.
We started with some chaat items. We had a dahi puri and a sev batata puri. They served it in the afternoon too, unlike some restaurants who start their snacks only in the evening.
Both of the items tasted really good. They were made well and were filling too.
For the mains, we had a stuffed simla mirch and a subz tawa.
The stuffed simla mirch (green bell peppers) has a filling of potatoes and paneer inside and has an orange gravy. It was prepared really well, and the gravy was a bit creamy. This is a dish that not many restaurants serve and I definitely recommend trying it out.
The subz tawa too was amazing. This one also had okra in it which is rarely put in a tawa subzi and since I'm a big fan of okra, I totally loved it. It has also got potato, onion and a few more vegetables, and is a tad bit on the spicier side.
I saw an item on the menu that said kurkure raita. I hadn't seen this earlier elsewhere, and so I was intrigued. It is a raita that has crispy fried okra in it, and that was something unique.
We had this with pudina paratha and a garlic naan. The breads were really nice and fluffy.
To end our meal on a sweet note, we ordered a ras malai. It was mouth-watering. Very soft, and coated with dry fruits, and at the same time just lightly sweet. We liked it so much that we ordered another one.
We loved this place overall, and it is a delight for vegetarians.
