AER Restaurant and Bar

Image
This place has a nice ambience and good music. I had been there last year, and I was recently invited again here and tried some interesting dishes.  They also have the longest bar in town.  We started with some dimsums. We totally loved the prawn har gao and called for another portion of this.  We also had the chicken kothe which was good enough, though we preferred the prawn.  If you're a fan of Edamame , you'll really like the ones here. They're coated with chilli and salt and are great.  Then we had the sicilian arancini . This one wasn't bad. It was cheesy but the flavour could have been a little better.  We then had the buffalo chicken wings . The chicken pieces were chunky and the tasted superb in buffalo sauce. They have sushi too. We had the California roll which was very good.  The avocado and prawn tempura is a cooked roll which was really delicious and we all enjoyed it.  Another main dish which I was a fan of was the wild mus...

Mad Tailors - Contemporary Cafe

Image
It has a really catchy name and when my friend suggested that we should try it, I had to check it out.  Finding parking was a bit hard, but I eventually got it. The restaurant looks interesting and inviting  from the outside too. The interiors are done up really well and feel classy with a grey and gold theme.  They've got a lot of appealing pictures of the menu items on the iPad and we were confused as to what to order. There are some small bites too, and you can order those if you don't want the big portions.  We ordered the MAD Caesar which is their version of the Caesar salad. The lettuce is made into a small size which becomes like a base. Then it is topped with everything that's in a Caesar salad. It tasted just like a Caesar salad and was quite good.  Then we had the Cordon Bleu Croquettes . These were nice and cheesy and really flavourful. It is one of their top sellers and I can see why.  For the mains we had the Prawn Proven...

Entre Nous

Image
This restaurant is located in the lobby level in Novotel. We had gone here for iftar and they had a set menu for AED 140. It was quite crowded the day we went. The food looked appetising when we had a look before the iftar started. There was a selection of dates and dryfruits, salads and cold starters, soup, hot starters, mains and dessert. When we actually started serving the food in our plate and having it, it tasted average. It wasn't bad, but we were certainly expecting more. The salads were plenty and did taste fresh and nice - fattoush, tabbouleh, hummus, eggplant salad, pasta salad, potato salad, chickpea salad, muhammara and more. The shawarma sandwich (rolls) was dry and below average. There were three types of meat for the grills. This too was average, and tasted a bit dry. There was ravioli too, and that tasted good. I also liked the Ouzi here. There were some good desserts too. I liked the cakes, and the umm ali. At the end of the meal, we were...

The Farm - Al barari

Image
If you want to dine in nature, this is definitely the best place in Dubai to go to. If you haven't been to Al Barari before, then let me tell you that you'll see a lot of greenery right from the time you enter the area.  The Farm has a dining area which is open-air and I would suggest sitting there (weather permitting), and there is also an indoor dining space.  A prior reservation is highly recommended.  We started with the fresh orange juice , and the Purifier which is a mix of carrot, orange, cucumber, ginger, and mint leaves. Both of them were fresh and tasted really good.  They got us some foccacia bread as we waited for our food. I found this yummy too. They gave some pesto along with it.  We started with the gnocchi . It had a cheesy and tomato based flavour to it. It did taste really very good, but felt a bit dry after a few bites.  The paneer butter masala was really nice, and not too spicy. I wouldn't compare it to the...

Aioli - Radisson Blu

Image
This place has earthy interiors and that's my favourite part about it. Also, being located inside Radisson Blu, it makes for a good location too.  It was the football season, and they invited to visit them one of the days. We were more than happy to go see the game, and have some good food her.  They have some really nice and refreshing mocktails.  I had the Aioli's Mojo which contains orange, green apple, and pineapple. I liked the zest flavour that it had to it. The pieces of fresh fruits made it even more enjoyable.  My friend had the rock star berry that's made form pineapple, red berry, blackberry, strawberry, blueberry was berrylicious good. Not only refreshing but we could taste the berries very well too.  To start with we ordered the shrimps with garlic and herbs . This one was to die for. If you're a fan of shrimps, I'd definitely recommend you to try it out. The herbs coupled with the lemon and olive oil made it taste really good. It ...

Cafe Bateel

Image
Bateel - a name synonymous with dates and date products in the Arabian land. They also have their cafes where usually I've had just tea or coffee; until this time where I tried out their Mediterranean cuisine. As soon as you walk in, you notice the lovely ambience. It feels really classy for a "cafĂ©". The staff greeted us and showed us to a table. They have a good selection of salads, pastas, sandwiches, desserts and more. As we waited for our food, they served us a complimentary bread basket which had 4-5 varieties of bread. It was soft and tasted well with the olive oil and balsamic vinegar which they have on the table. Our order took quite some time to be served. We had ordered  Bresaola, red quinoa and avocado salad . The salad looked really tempting, but in terms of taste, it could have been better. The bresaola was good but the rest of it felt a bit dry. From their lovely seasonal selection we had ordered the ciriole alla genovese past...
