Zahr-El-Laymoun - Souq Al Bahar

Image
This one is a classy place with a good location. Also, if you're sitting outside (which is where you can have the shisha), you get a partial view of the dubai fountains too. I was invited by them to try out their food, and the first thing I noticed was the ambience which was lovely.  They have a lot of modified dishes on their menu, i.e. dishes which you might get elsewhere but a little different.  We started with the Hummus Zahr-El-laymoun . It comes with minced meat, and is topped with pomegranate seeds and pine nuts. I totally loved this one. Minced meat on hummus tastes better than pieces of meat I must say; or perhaps it is the way they make it.  The manager suggested that we should definitely try the labneh tray . It is labneh covered with thyme, pistachio and olive oil; served with crispy bread. I took a bite of this and couldn't keep my hands off it. If you like labneh, you gotta try this one. For drinks we had the pomegranate juice . This wa...

Arz Lebanon - Karama

Image
This partiuclar outlet has started just a few months ago, and I've bee a fan since I tried out the food at their other outlet.  The ambiance is great. There's two floors of seating. We sat at the one on top, and it was quiet; we were the only ones there. Service though, was nice. The staff was attentive, and we did not have to wait long if we wanted something.  Started with two types of Hummus' - The hummus beiruty (it is with a hint of garlic), and the hummus tahina. Both of them were really good. They were thick and had a good consistency. Served with hot bread. As for the mains, we had a steak with pepper. This one was really delicious. It was served with grilled vegetables, and fries on the side. We loved the taste of the pepper sauce that it was made in.  We had a falafel too. Many times, the falafel is a too dry, but this one wasn't. It was crunchy and flavorful, and served with tahina sauce. The portion size was bigger than usual, and it wa...

Zaroob

Image
Zaroob is a well known name among Arabic restaurants. I've been to their other outlets and the food was good.  As soon as we entered, I noticed that the staff is friendly. One of my friend was vegetarian and she wanted to check if they've got enough choice of vegetarian food. The staff was glad to help and explained all the items that are available in vegetarian.  We started off with hummus and a stuffed falafel, along with a lemonade.  The hummus tasted really good, and the quantity was good too. Zaroob being Zaroob , they get their hummus right.  This stuffed falafel came along with tahina sauce, and khaboos, parsley, and pickled radish. When you have it all together, it tastes great; a tad bit dry though.  The lemonade was served in a nice mason jar.  They had foul (chick peas) too; and one of the dishes is foul jar . The name looked interesting. They actually serve this in a jar. It looks like some dish served during the olden days....

Al Safadi - Arabic cuisine

Image
Al Safadi is a well-known name for Arabic cuisine and it started its Umm Sequim outlet recently. This outlet is huge and spacious and you'll also find parking near it easily. it has outside seating as well as inside; and another interesting thing about the inside seating is that it has designated smoking and non-smoking area. So if you want to sit inside and do not like the smell of shisha, there is a designated zone for you. We started with the all-time favourite - the hummus. We ordered the hummus beiruty , which usually is the one with parsley and some spices. This one also had cumin in it, which was something new to me, and that brought about a peculiar flavour to it - a bit of an Indian flavour. Along with that they served fresh hot bread. This was brown bread unlike the usual white one. Also, the waiters would come intermittently with a basket of hot bread and would replace the old one on your table. A small gesture like this goes a long way to show about the...
