Ketch Up

This place has a 'katchy' name, and as you must have guessed, this place primarily serves burgers, fries, and other fast food items. It is a really nice place in bluewaters island and my friend invited me here to heck it out. They have seating outdoors beside the water, as well as an indoor seating.  We started with the grilled avocado with shrimps and spicy sauce . I'm not a big avocado fan but I really liked the grilled avocado. The shrimp was crispy and the spicy sauce made it taste delicious.  Then we had the cheddar cheese sticks with cranberry sauce . It didn't have as much of a cheese pull, and tasted average. Also, I personally didn't like the cranberry sauce with it much. I had it with regular ketchup! They have soups too, and one of the cold soups caught my attention. It was called okroshka . This is a cold slavic soup with laban base. It had little cubes of met in it and a mild flavour of wasabi. I thoroughly enjoyed it.  For the burgers, w...

The Yellow Monkey - Thai food

Image
This is a lovely restaurant in JBR and when I was invited here, I was wondering what's the cuisine. After dining here though, my doubts were definitely cleared.  The place has a funky and contemporary ambience to it. There are a couple of tables with swinging chairs and even the tables along with it are suspended and sway. It was interesting when I sat on it, but after some time I preferred to sit on something more conventional.  We started with something really interesting. It was the mango and coconut salad on fried betel leaf . I was pleasantly surprised to know that betel leaf is used in Thai cuisine. It had an authentic Thai flavour to it, especially given the fact that mango and coconut are also used extensively in the cuisine. It wasn't something that personally suited my tastebuds though.  After this we had the tom kha prawn soup . The flavours of the soup made in coconut milk tasted nice and the soup was comforting.  Then we had...

Wagamama JBR

Image
I've visited other outlets of Wagamama, and I really liked the food. At this outlet, they were having their street food festival where they were promoting certain items, and they invited me and a few others to try it out.  This outlet might be a little hard to locate as it is inside the Al Fattan tower right beside Movenpick.  They were promoting the bao which is a very famous Japanese street-food. I had the salmon & pickled cucumber hirata bun ( bao ), and I quite liked it. It was different from the usual ones I've had.  A post shared by Famished Explorer [ UDIT ] (@uditss) on Mar 28, 2018 at 7:30am PDT They also have the other ones like the barbeque beef & red onion, and crispy chicken & tomato. These are good too.  I also had a portion of their Ebi katsu . These are butterfly prawns fried in panko breadcrumbs. These were crispy and I especially liked them with the spicy dip that they are served with.  As for drin...

blaze burgers

I've had burgers at a lot of places and there's nothing all that different from one another but I found something a little different about this place. This place offers you customization but partially (not to the point you'll get too confused).  You can choose your bread, your meat and the topping (which includes the sauce and the vegetables). If you don't want the bread, they also have an healthy option which is the lettuce wrap , and that is the one I chose. For my meat I chose chicken . I wanted a spicy sauce and I  initially chose the jalapeño, but later my attention went to the sauce called the " Heaven And Hell " which was rated way spicier than the jalapeño  one. It is so hot that they actually asked me if I could actually take this, and I really wanted to check it out, so I added that. This turned out to be extremely delicious. The sauce was really hot and I don't think that most people can have it but since I like it really spicy I totally l...
