Azerbaijani food has a lot of Middle Eastern influence, and a lot of dishes are variations of those you get in the Middle East. There were a few good local restaurants I visited, and a few others too. I'm going to talk about all of these in this post.  The name of the dishes may be a bit different in Azeri (language), and some might just be a translation / description of the dish. You can click on the name of the restaurant to get the exact location.   Burc Qala [well known for Azeri cuisine]:- This is located in the heart of the city - Icheri Shehr (which means Old City). While walking through the old forts in this area, we came across this restaurant. The interiors feel really traditional. Also, a lot of shades of red are used. Here, I had the qutab , which is a very famous local dish; more of a snack. It is made from thinly rolled dough, and has filling inside. It usually has two variants - minced meat, and mixed greens. Modi - Georgian restaurant

This is an interesting name for a restaurant, and being an Indian, it especially caught my attention since it is also the name of our current Prime Minister. But Modi in georgian has a different meaning. Currently, this is the only Georgian restaurant in Dubai, and I was invited here to try out their food. The interiors are really nice and I especially loved the art on the glass. We tried the brunch there which includes soup, cold starters, Georgian pastry, mains, and sweet. We chose one alcoholic package (where we took wine) and one non-alcoholic (with strawberry mojito). You have a choice of two soups to choose from. One is the supkharcho, and the one that we had was the chikhirtma . This has a base of chicken, flour, butter and eggs. It is served with shoti - the traditional Georgian bread. Breakfast at Burj Al Arab

Oh boy was I excited to have breakfast here! I had stayed at this hotel a decade ago, and hadn't been here since then until this day when we decided to come here for breakfast with some colleagues. The restaurant that we dined at is called Sahn Eddar . They have various set menus to choose from.  All of these include a juice of your choice as well as a tea/coffee. There's a continental breakfast which is for AED 220. This includes a breakfast stand which has some mixed fruits, smoked salmon with caviar, a few types of cheese. I really like the cold cuts of the smoked salmon; the caviar along with it tasted premium. The fruits were also fresh and juicy. On the side you also get toasted bread along with jams and marmalade as well as some Danish pastries. We also had the Indian breakfast which is for AED 310.
