Chicken. When? Now.
In the mood for a quick bite while roaming on SZR, we spotted this restaurant called 'Chickenow' and stepped in.
The look and feel is very nice; they've wooden seating and overall a light-brown theme.
They have some nice customer-centric quotations.
They position themselves as "An American premium chicken eatery", and they have self-service. Now in my opinion, a restaurant that is premium, shouldn't have self-service, so initially I was let down, but once I tasted the chicken, it felt really premium, so may be that's what the premium there refers to. More on that later.
They've got an interesting menu that contains not just burgers, but wings, nachos, salads, wraps, rice and more.
To start with, I ordered their Grandma Burger and made it a meal. The name sounded so interesting, that my friend ordered the Grandma wrap.
For the drinks, they give you the glass and you can put as much ice and beverage in it as you like. This was the first time I was dispensing my drink from a soda fountain. Also, the best part is that the drinks are unlimited! So you can keep refilling it as and when you want.
We got our wrap, and the burger which came along with the fries. The burger looked really tempting and I could barely resist it until clicking some photos. One bite, and there was a burst of flavors in my mouth. The chicken was grilled to perfection and we could taste the unadulterated chicken. It is not at many places that you get such a pure taste of the chicken without any overpowering sauces. The vegetables in it also felt fresh. They also have mustard sauce on the side which I'm a big fan on.
For the wrap, we asked for the crispy chicken and that was really good too. The tortilla was right and so was the filling.
Now coming to the fries...They were hot, a bit crispy and mildly spiced. Some of the pieces also had the potato skin on it, which I totally like. They were better than many of the good french fries I've had around town.
The good thing is that the place is open until 2 am and is hardly crowded, so we sat there refilling your drink a few times; and then felt like we could have something more.
Now we were deciding between the edamame salad and some chicken.
Quite confused, I decided to get the best of both worlds. I ordered the edamame salad with come chicken in it. Voila!
The salad also contained some olives, sprouts, rocket leaves, lettuce, red quinoa, cucumber, tomato, sesame oil, and came with a lemon mustard dressing on the side. It was a very interesting combination. The edamame beans tasted really good, and so did the quinoa and the sprouts. The lemon dressing made it zesty, and of-course it goes without saying that the chicken was delicious.
Another good thing is that it is easily accessible. It is right outside the emirates metro station and since there are just another couple of restaurants near it, it is usually easy to get a parking spot as well.
One of the quotations that they have on their wall is "Our promise is our guest leave happy". Well, we sure did.
