Quattro - Italian food with a twist
Among the handful pure vegetarian Italian restaurants is Quattro. They serve Italian as well as Mexican cuisine with a bit of a fusion twist.
As soon as you enter you notice the rustic and earthy interiors of this place. The staff showed us to a comfortable table.
Before they serve the food, they got us a wide selection of dips — salsa, habanero, mango, pesto, and a few more — each of which were explained by our server Vishwajit.
They've got a wide variety in their menu and you're spoilt for choice, especially since they've got the concept of molecular gastronomy and each item has something unique to offer.
After much pondering we decided to take their recommendations as to what are their best appetizers. They suggested the 'Taquitos', which is gluten-free tortilla cones filled with beans, jalapeƱos, salsa, and topped with avocado ice-cream. I hadn't heard of an ice-cream being a part of any appetizer before this so it was something really interesting. It's served in a platter that's got smoke coming out from the middle. We just couldn't wait to get our hands on these "ice-cream cones". One bite, and there's a burst of flavors in your mouth. The good thing is that the 'ice-cream' isn't sweet, just cold which perfectly enhances the flavor. It was great and we were left craving for more.
For the next appetizers, we had the Risotto Palle which is crumbed and fried risotto balls served with chili oil pipettes. They're served with the pipette injected in the risotto ball and you can squeeze in the right amount of chili oil that you desire. They looked interesting and the taste lived up to it as well. Oh, and they're nice and cheesy.
Moving on to the mains... They haven't got something that'd have you awestruck as far as visual appeal in concerned, but your taste-buds would be in for a ride.
We were in the mood for a rice dish; thankfully they've got quite a few of them. We chose the "Spinach Riso with vegetable paprika". It is spinach rice served along with vegetables in a creamy sauce. This one was really delicious. We could get all the flavors and none of them were overpowering.
After this, both of us we were quite full and didn't have place in our tummy for any dessert.
Our meal ended with a bite-sized chocolate that they give you in the end.
I definitely look forward to trying out other items on their menu soon.
