Koryo - affordable Korean cuisine

Affordable Korean cuisine is what this restaurant is.

They've got quite a variety to choose from, but since I was a bit confused as to what to order, I ordered one of their combos - the Koryo Combo Box.
It consists or noodles, rice, 2 mains, 3 banchans (salads) and a soft drink. All this for 35 AED which didn't sound too bad.

You have a choice of few noodles to select from. I selected the glass noodles.


 For mains - I selected a fish and a prawn.
The fish was really very good. The prawn wasn't bad, but the quantity of the prawn in the dish was quite less. It was mostly vegetables.


Moving on to the salads... I ordered an eggplant salad, an onion salad, and a kimchi. All of them were good, though not something to rave about.





The staff is a tad bit rude. I took some time to decide what to order and they seemed to get restless. Also, when I asked if I could get the fried rice instead of the normal one, they made a long face and said "that's 5 dirhams extra". When I asked if I could get an ice tea instead of the soft drink, they made a long face guess what they did? No points for guessing. "That's 5 dirhams extra".

Indo-Arab menu at Ashiana

Ashiana is an Indian restaurant located in Sheraton beside Dubai Creek. Recently it has got a new head chef - Joseph Yohanna - and has started its Indo-Arab menu; and we were among the first ones invited to try it out.  This was my first time visiting this outlet, and as soon as I entered, the ambiance felt classy. They've got live Indian music too (bollywood, and ghazals), so if you're a fan, you'll love it, otherwise it might be a bit too loud.  We started off with some pani-puri fruit juice shots . In this, instead of the regular pani, there was a mango-based fruit juice. The taste wasn't bad by itself, but if you're in the mood for pani-puri, then this doesn't quite hit the spot.  After this, all the items were Indian, with an Arabic twist to it.  We had a soup which was called dejaj (chicken) shorba . In a bowl were small pieces of chicken, and a bread-stick tempered with cumin, over which we poured the broth that was served separately...

Oakberry Acai Bowls

This is a Brazilian brand which has 200 outlets worldwide and has recently started in Dubai with 8 outlets. They invited me to try out their outlet in Citywalk. Most of their outlets here are kiosks but this is a comparatively bigger one. The ambience is nice and they've used a green and purple colour scheme which gives a bit of a earthy vibe.  You can customize your acai bowl or smoothie with the various ingredients that they have.  We took one with Acai, chia seeds, almonds, hazelnut, and strawberry. It was nice and healthy, although colder than usual. If you have it quickly, you might get a brain-freeze.  In the other one we had acai with condensed milk, strawberry, almonds and chia seeds. I liked the flavour of the condensed milk in this one.  It's a good place especially if you like to have something healthy.  Click here to salivate
