The Meating Room - Karama
I recently was invited to this restaurant to try out their new menu. I had visited them a long time ago, and this time there were some new delicious dishes.
The place isn't very big and has about 4-5 tables indoors. There is more seating outdoors though.
In this summer we had to try out their kala khatta and lemon ginger mocktails which are really refreshing.
While the food was being prepared, we munched on some fryums.
For the appetisers, we started with the po-tay-to po-tah-to. This is basically a meat stuffed potato patty. Being a huge fan of potato this was just heavenly for me. It was soft and very flavourful. You should totally try it.
The chicken and cheese croquettes were also really good. If you like something cheesy, then this is a nice choice. They're served with schezwan sauce.
We had an assortment of grills too. The psychedelic lamb chops were perhaps my favourite. They're soft, yet well done; served with tzatziki dip, grilled vegetables and fries.
The botti licious, i.e. lamb marinated in special spices was not bad either.
If you like soft chicken the do try the bihari bhaiya.
I'm a huge fan of prawn, and the atomic prawns were very good, but I liked the other grills and starters so much more that I'd suggest trying those out here, since those aren't something you'll get everywhere else.
We also tried their malai broccoli which was superb and served with a cheesy sauce.
For the main course, the star of the day was the TMR meatpot. This has boneless mutton cooked in a lentil and potato gravy. It feels so satisfying and has such a desi taste to it, that you'll end up licking your fingers.
Mutton keema dum is made with Mumbai style spices. This wasn't bad but I've had better.
They call their butter chicken the comfort chicken, and it is pretty good indeed.
We ended the mains with a slow cooked mutton grilled biryani. It had a nice aroma to it, and the lamb tasted good with minimal spices.
For dessert, we had the gulab jamun cheesecake. The dish itself is quite good, although the cheesecake part of it was semi-solid and I did expect more.
I liked just about everything that I had here. A couple of things could be better but definitely nothing to complain about.
