Bombay Grills and Woks

Image
This is a newly started restaurant and they invited me to try out their food. The restaurant isn't very big and at first felt like it was just another restaurant but the food bowled me over. We started with the Hakimi sherbat . It is a cold beverage which basically has saffron milk with watermelon pieces in it. It was served chilled and felt really refreshing. We totally loved the way it tasted and couldn't get enough of this. They have some refreshing shots too. We tried the kala khatta shots and the kachchi kairi shots . They're served with chilli on the rim of the glass which adds the real kick to it. The flavours tasted natural and the right amount of tangy. For starters, we had the mutton seekh kebab . These were really soft and served with puris. Really flavourful, although a tad bit oily. The next was the fish chilli dry . It had big  pieces of fish and the chilli was just right. It had a nice Indo-Chinese flavour to it. Up next was the malai dhamaka boti . It is s...

Behrouz Biryani

I had heard about this brand and wanted to check it out. They offered to send me some food at home for a review. Since my family is vegetarian , I asked only for veg food.  The delivery arrived on time, and was packed nicely. For starters, we had the spinach corn tikki . It was soft and a little crispy on the outside. It tasted really good and was served with khubz and a salad. For the biryani, we had one subz-e-biryani . The aroma of the biryani was just too good and we couldn't wait to dig in. The flavour too lived up to our expectations and we really liked it.  The other biryani was the zaikedaar paneer biryani . The spiced paneer added a lot of flavour to the biryani, and I enjoyed this even more than the subz-e-biryani. The biryanis were served with raita and gulab jamun. The gulab jamun too was soft and yummy.

This is a cafe in Karama that has newly opened and I was invited here to try it out.  We started with the egg puffs which were really good. It had a nice egg masala inside.  The chicken samosas too were quite flavourful. We then tried the zinger club sandwich which had a nice crunch to it and tasted good too. The fresh chicken patty burger was saucy and nice. We also tried the dynamite chicken here. It is fried chicken topped with dynamite sauce. It had a mild spicy flavour to it. What I really loved here was the Brownie cold coffee . If you're a fan of cold coffee and want a bit of a cakey flavour in it, then you should definitely try it out.  The SB signature cold coffee too is quite good. They have some nice faloodas too. We had the gudbud falooda and the royal falooda . They've got ice-cream, fruits, dry-fruits, and lots more. These were fabulous. For chai lovers, do try their SB signature masala chai . I was expecting it to be just like regular one, but ...

Rangoli Vegetarian Restaurant

This is a pure vegetarian restaurant that has really delicious food.  I was invited here for the Monday Thali Madness . Every Monday they have unlimited Gujrati thali for AED 23. The thali had 2 types of dal, kadhi, corn spinach, gatte ki sabzi, and potato sabzi. Apart from that there was a samosa and dhokla, a chaat (bhel), and two sweets. They also get you hot phulkas and puris. Gatte ki sabzi was delicious, and the dals too. I really enjoyed the thali a lot. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Udit 📷 [Famished Explorer] (@uditss) There's also masala chhaas which has a nice mix of spices in it. Apart from that we also tried a few chaat items here.  We started with the pani puri , then we had the sev puri which was on the spicier side and really good. We also tried the dahi puri which was nice.  I especially liked the samosa chaat that I had here. The chole in it was lovely and the samosa had a nice taste to it too. At the e...

I had seen this place a few times but wasn't aware what they serve until I was invited to check them out.  It's a really nice place with a very desi place to it. It's also bigger than I expected.  We started with the baida roti . we asked for the keema version which comes stuffed with mutton keema inside it. It's got egg too. It was delicious, flavourful, and filling.  I'm a total sucker for fries, and when we saw the loaded pizza fries , we definitely had to try those out. These comes loaded with cheese and taste just like you're having a pizza with all that pizza sauce, oregano and more. Also, the quantity is huge and you'd need 2-3 people to have this. A very loaded dish indeed. They currently have an offer on their chicken bbq platter . You get 29 pieces for AED 29. This includes chicken tikka, chicken malai, and chicken hariyali. I liked the chicken tikka the most. All of the three were really flavourful though, and not dry at all which is what I real...

Shri Krishna Bhavan

We were looking for a good breakfast place on a weekend early morning and since this opens early, we decided to check this out.  They have some interesting menu options and we tried some of the Andhra specialities.  We starred with the gunta punugulu which is basically paniyaram. They were soft on the inside and crispy outside; served with coconut chutney which made it even more flavourful. Next, I had the upma pesarattu . I've had these two separately but was my first time having ti together. It does taste great as a combination too.  Then we had the Karnataka combo tiffin . This has a mangalore bun, akki roti, rava idly, khara bhath, kesari bhath, and coffee. I really liked the managalore bun. It was fresh and slightly sweet.  The akki roti had some nice flavours to it, especially when had with the yellow curry along with it.  The filter coffee no doubt was very good as expected.  It did get quite crowded by the time we were done.  Overall, i...
