Storyboard cafe

 This is a cafe in Karama that has newly opened and I was invited here to try it out. 



We started with the egg puffs which were really good. It had a nice egg masala inside. 

The chicken samosas too were quite flavourful.


We then tried the zinger club sandwich which had a nice crunch to it and tasted good too.


The fresh chicken patty burger was saucy and nice.


We also tried the dynamite chicken here. It is fried chicken topped with dynamite sauce. It had a mild spicy flavour to it.


What I really loved here was the Brownie cold coffee. If you're a fan of cold coffee and want a bit of a cakey flavour in it, then you should definitely try it out. 

The SB signature cold coffee too is quite good.


They have some nice faloodas too. We had the gudbud falooda and the royal falooda. They've got ice-cream, fruits, dry-fruits, and lots more. These were fabulous.


For chai lovers, do try their SB signature masala chai. I was expecting it to be just like regular one, but it had a nice flavour of masala in it and felt very comforting. 



The drinks were better than I had expected. This being a cafeteria, I wouldn't say the food is totally top notch, but better than most cafeterias, and it is easy on the pocket too. 



They've got a fairly limited amount of seating and is a pretty small place. There's a bit of outside seating too but it felt that it comes a little in the way of passers by. 

If you're looking to grab a quick bite or do a take away that's pocket friendly, then this place is worth checking out.

This is a Brazilian brand which has 200 outlets worldwide and has recently started in Dubai with 8 outlets. They invited me to try out their outlet in Citywalk. Most of their outlets here are kiosks but this is a comparatively bigger one. The ambience is nice and they've used a green and purple colour scheme which gives a bit of a earthy vibe.  You can customize your acai bowl or smoothie with the various ingredients that they have.  We took one with Acai, chia seeds, almonds, hazelnut, and strawberry. It was nice and healthy, although colder than usual. If you have it quickly, you might get a brain-freeze.  In the other one we had acai with condensed milk, strawberry, almonds and chia seeds. I liked the flavour of the condensed milk in this one.  It's a good place especially if you like to have something healthy.  Click here to salivate

Humpty Dumpty - desi Chinese

This is a small place located in Karama, and my friends took me there. Initially I was a apprehensive as to how this place might be, but it didn't seem to be all that bad.  We were five of us, and moderately hungry.  We ordered the Schezwan sixer . This is a combo which contains 1 portion of each: fried rice, noodles, chicken gravy, soup, Chinese bhel, chicken lollipop . This costs just about AED 50. The above combo is also available in a vegetarian option which costs around 40 AED.   We started with the soup which I really liked. It was the manchow soup which was spicy and tangy. The chinese bhel was okay. It wasn't so crunchy, and neither did it have a very good taste.  The chicken lollipop wasn't too bad; it were fairly good. Baku food : What did I eat in Azerbaijan?

Azerbaijani food has a lot of Middle Eastern influence, and a lot of dishes are variations of those you get in the Middle East. There were a few good local restaurants I visited, and a few others too. I'm going to talk about all of these in this post.  The name of the dishes may be a bit different in Azeri (language), and some might just be a translation / description of the dish. You can click on the name of the restaurant to get the exact location.   Burc Qala [well known for Azeri cuisine]:- This is located in the heart of the city - Icheri Shehr (which means Old City). While walking through the old forts in this area, we came across this restaurant. The interiors feel really traditional. Also, a lot of shades of red are used. Here, I had the qutab , which is a very famous local dish; more of a snack. It is made from thinly rolled dough, and has filling inside. It usually has two variants - minced meat, and mixed greens.
