Yugo Sushi

Image
There are so many sushi places coming up lately, but what makes this different is that it is a Yugo concept. Yugo in Japanese means Fusion. The food is Japanese and tastes so too, but they've tweaked it a bit, and I was glad to be invited to try it out.  The first item we had was the Yellowtail usuzukuri . Usuzukuri refers to thinly sliced, and the yellowtail was so thinly slice that it was transparent just the way the Japanese do it. It has a slice of jalapeno on top which gives a hint of spice to it. This is made using their zesty in-house sauce and they can do it since it is a Yugo concept. We totally loved this and is certainly worth a try.  Then we had the Salmon Avocado usuzukuri which apparently is one of their hot sellers. Now I'm not all that big a fan of avocado, though I like salmon. This was good, and this too was in their secret sauce. The way it was presented, it looked fantastic. We liked it just a little bit I would say.  We then got a cru...

Itsu Sushi

There are a lot of sushi places coming up and each one seems to be a bit different than the other. This place had interesting combinations, that also had some catchy names, and they invited me to try these out.   I like the colour scheme that they've used in the restaurant. It is green, black, and brown. The green really stands out as compared to most other places.  As soon as you enter, you'll notice the sushi train (conveyor belt sushi), and for sushi & sashimi lovers, there's a good news. You can sit there and have unlimited quanitites of this for just AED 111 (+ vat)! We chose one of the tables on the side instead; a more comfortable one.  On the first page of their menu, they have the regular sushis that you see everywhere, but turn the page, and you'll see their " funky international makis ". There's a wide variety and of-course we wanted to have them all. We asked the staff for their recommendations, and after pondering for a ...

Sushi Express Cafe

Image
I have recently become a fan of sushi and these days there are so many restaurants who're doing amazing stuff with Sushi. One such restaurant is the Sushi Express Cafe in JLT, and they invited me to check them out. This place has sitting outside as well as inside and the lighting gives a very calm feel to the ambience. One of the first things that I noticed is that this restaurant has a washroom, and that is uncommon for restaurant in the Jumeirah lake Towers; there itself was a good start.  We started with the Salmon and tuna tartare salad . This also had some tomatoes and avocado in it and tasted really fresh.  We also had the volcano maki roll which is made from Salmon tuna tartare, avocado, cucumber, and topped with a mild spicy sauce. This one was really delicious and got over in no time.  We then moved to one of their Bento boxes - the Hakone Bento . This consisted of hot Udon, liver & chicken yakitori, chicken gyoza, avocado maki, California ...
