Hashi - Asian street-food

Image
This is an Asian street-food concept that has recently started in Oud Metha. The good thing about it being a "street-food concept" is that the prices too are cheap. Also, they don't have "mains" as such, but items you'd find at street-side vendors that have a small portion size.  I really liked the ambiance of this place. They've used shades of black, white, brown and grey. One of the walls has art on it. The part which I liked the most though was the lighting. They've kept it dim and that gives a very calm feel to it (lights were brightened to shoot better pictures) I was invited here for a tasting, and all the items of the menu looked interesting, so the staff suggested us their best ones.  We started with the Crunchy Asian Salad . It was simple and crunchy; by that I mean that not too many things were added in there, and there was no over-powering sauce. Really liked this one.  The mushroom and veggie cigar caught my attention. Th...

Moshi - momo and sushi

Image
When you want sushi, but aren't a fan of the traditional sushi, this is the place to head to.  I know a lot of people including myself who don't really like sushi, so initially I was a bit apprehensive when a friend of mine took me there. Once there, I saw how different there sushis are compared to the traditional ones. These don't have the raw fish and rice. The sushis here have the shape of the sushi, but the ingredients are different and I actually ended up loving these.  They have a huge variety: chicken, fish, mutton, vegetarian; as well as something unconventional like cheetos, hummus et al.  They've got some great soups and momos too. More on that ahead.  To start with, we ordered a veg thukpa soup . It is a soup originated in Nepal and the surrounding areas. It has got noodles, spring onions, and a few other vegetables in various Nepali spices. The consistency of this soup is thick and it is really filling.  In their other outlet, I had had thei...

Little Bangkok - Motor city

Image
We went here around 11:30 p.m. which is about closing time for this restaurant, yet they were kind enough to accommodate us, when a nearby restaurant hadn't; and I think this talk a lot about their attitude towards the customers. The staff seemed in a bit of a rush to take our order, and understandably so, but we were still deciding what to order and they gave us some time.  Since it was their closing time and the last order, we had to order all of our food together.  For starters, we ordered a vegetable dimsum. They were a bit sticky, had a tint of green to it and were served hot. They looked quite appealing. As far as the taste is concerned, they were just about okay. I've eaten better vegetable dimsums and these didn't quite make the cut. I felt they lacked some flavor, and also after adding the sauces, they weren't all that great.  For mains, we had a stir fried vegetable in black pepper sauce along with a veg fried rice.  The stir fried vegetable was gr...
