Hashi - Asian street-food

This is an Asian street-food concept that has recently started in Oud Metha. The good thing about it being a "street-food concept" is that the prices too are cheap. Also, they don't have "mains" as such, but items you'd find at street-side vendors that have a small portion size.

I really liked the ambiance of this place. They've used shades of black, white, brown and grey. One of the walls has art on it. The part which I liked the most though was the lighting. They've kept it dim and that gives a very calm feel to it (lights were brightened to shoot better pictures)

I was invited here for a tasting, and all the items of the menu looked interesting, so the staff suggested us their best ones.

We started with the Crunchy Asian Salad. It was simple and crunchy; by that I mean that not too many things were added in there, and there was no over-powering sauce. Really liked this one.

The mushroom and veggie cigar caught my attention. These are like vegetable spring rolls, just longer and tastier versions of them.

Ping-pong? Yes please. These are ping-pong sized balls which are crunchy from the outside and have a filling of your choice in it. We chose prawns, and it was good. This dish is something interesting.

For drinks, we had the Yushiber fizz which is made from yuzu (similar to pomelo), shiso and cucumber. It was fizzy, and the cucumber felt refreshing.

When you think of Asian street-food, Ramen does come to your mind, so we had the Yaki Ramen Noodles. It comes in a small bowl with a piece of sea-weed on the side. It tasted really authentic.

We also had the Ramen Miso Soup. Miso is basically a sauce made from soya-bean. This wasn't bad, but the broth could have had some other flavours too; It felt like it was just miso over-powering.

We couldn't miss out on the Beef short-ribs. These are slow-cooked, and were really soft; made with five spices and ginger sauce. Not easy to resist.

The Tamari fried rice was one of my favourite dish here. It had authentic flavours; it was simple, and nothing out-of-the-box, but I really enjoyed it.

Who doesn't like dumplings? We all do, so we had the Gyoza Dumplings. They are steamed one side and shallow fried on the other. Available with a meat of your choice, these were made to perfection and served with some ginger and sauce on the side.

We tried the Dim Sum too. It tasted okay. Something seemed amiss about it. It was served with chilli oil on the side.

We saw something exquisite at the end of the menu. Duck. The Crispy aromatic Duck it was. It is served on scallion pancake with hoi sin soy. The duck was crispy and juicy, and as soon as I took a bit, there was a burst of flavours and I enjoyed this dish.

For dessert, they have two items, and we had both of them. The first one was the Yuzu Lemon cheesecake. This is the best lemon cheesecake ever. The taste feels perfect; not too sweet, not too sour, creamy enough. I definitely recommend trying this one out.

The other one was the Green Tea Tiramisu. I've had matcha (green tea) latte before, and it took me a few sips to get used to the flavour, but it was quite nice. This one had an overpowering flavour of matcha according to me. Or perhaps, I wasn't really used to it. If you like matcha, you might like this, but if you haven't tried this one before, I don't think you should risk ordering it.

They have thought over a lot of details for the restaurant. Their music too, is custom made in UK said the manager, and it is also controlled online from a dedicated server.

I really liked the glasses that thy serve their tea in, and I felt like having some green tea. Sadly, they didn't have any. I can't exactly imagine an Asian street-food concept restaurant not serving tea. Perhaps they'll include this in their menu soon.
