Level 8 Rooftop - Marriott Jaddaf

Image
They're recently re-branded Koyla rooftop as Level 8. We were invited here to try out their food and experience the place It is located alongside the pool on the top floor (8th floor). You can see Burj Khalifa at a distance and a view of the Ras Al Khor area. They have good shisha. I had the kiwi paan, and also tried the coconut vanilla, as well as the peach and they were good.  The food was average though. We tried the cheese balls, chilli chicken, chicken manchurian, stuffed chilli, and spicy peanuts for starters. The peanuts were good, and so was the manchurian. The rest could have been better.  For the mains we had the chicken korma and fried rice which was decent. Among the cocktails, I had tequila sunrise which was good, and the ginlet which was okay the first time, but the second one that they got tasted better. The place has a desi vibe to it. The valet parking is not free for Koyla, but you can park yourself for free in the basement.

I had heard about this place and wanted to go check it out.  We wanted to grab a bite and were passing by so decided to step in. We weren't here for shisha, but just some food.  For starters, we ordered the buffalo chicken wings and masala fries.  The chicken wings were served in a sweet and spicy gravy (which had capsicum) in it, along with bread on the side. How on earth are these buffalo chicken wings?! The chicken also felt a bit under cooked.  The masala fries took about half an hour to be served. When they were served, we asked if these are masala fries or regular fries, and they confirmed saying that these are masala fries. They had no "masala" on it. Salt and pepper is not the masala that is expected for masala fries. I could order regular fries and ask for salt and pepper on the side. Also, the fries weren't crispy. They suggested us the rice bowls as one of their specialities. We chose the spicy shrimp rice bowl. It was shrimp prepared in a semi-dry s...

Silver Beach Cafe - Al Seef

This is the same brand that's there in Mumbai , and it serves delicious European food. It has recently started and they invited me to try out their delicacies It has a seating upstairs where it also serves alcohol and shisha.  I was with a vegetarian friend and we were pleasantly surprised to see the ample options for vegetarians. They do not have a vegan menu yet, but are planning to introduce some vegan items soon.  Most of the dishes reviewed in this post are vegetarian friendly : We started with the Cottage cheese sambal for the appetiser. I'm a big fan of the sambal chilli (though it's not European) and the cottage cheese was lightly tossed in its paste. At first I thought it might not be all that flavourful but it surpassed our expectations. The taste was totally on point; it is on the spicier side.  For sea-food lovers, the coriander fish cakes are a must try. They're served with a lovely thousand island dressing and topped with tobiko. ...

This is a lovely restaurant located by the creek-side and I really liked the ambience of this place. They've got seating inside as well as outside by the creek which is really beautiful; it feels calm and peaceful. For Iftar, they've made a set menu consisting of some of their best dishes.  They've got a non-vegetarian menu as well as a vegetarian one. The set menu is for AED 114 (AED 68 for kids) inclusive of all taxes. One of the first things that I noticed as I sat to dine is the shape of the glass. It has an angular base. It is catchy; though kinda scary as well as intriguing at the same time.  The first section is called the soulful start (it is the same for veg as well as non-veg ) To break the fast, they got us some dates; along with that you have a choice of mango-milkshake or chhaas . The mango milkshake is delicious, sweet, and cold, and also has some dry-fruits in it. The chhaas is savoury and really refreshing.  These are followed by sm...
