Bubo Barcelona Cafe

I don't come across Spanish cuisine too often, and when Bubo Barcelona invited me for a bloggers meet, I was really excited. I had seen this restaurant a few times, since it is just outside one of the elevators at citywalk; so obviously, it is easy to access if you park in the right parking.

As soon as you enter, you'll notice the various kinds of desserts and chocolates kept there; some really interesting ones. Like the one pictured below is called "break my heart". It contains chocolate bonbons inside.

The place has a nice decor, and some outside seating too. If you're sitting outside, you'll notice the orange and blue theme which is contrasting and bright.

We started with some traditional soup. This is cold Spanish soup called the gazpacho. It had a good texture to it, and was really tangy since it is made primarily from tomato. It wasn't bad, but I think I'll have to prepare myself mentally for a cold soup first.

Then we moved on to something healthy - granola. It was served in a jar and was made along with yoghurt, banana, walnuts, and berries. If you like healthy food, then you'll like this one.

They've got quite a few egg items, and we tried some.
The first one was the shakshouka. For the base, there is a semi-dry gravy made from tomatoes, onions, and a few spices. This is topped with half-fried egg. This was really delicious; though it is more of a middle eastern dish and not Spanish.

Then came the fluffy egg. This was like a fluffy omelette, and was served with portobello mushrooms. This too was really very good.

After this we had the Spanish egg cake. This is similar to an omelette but has more stuffing like potato, tomato, and more inside. This was really filling.

There was halloumi scrambled egg too. The egg was served on toast, along with grilled halloumi on the side which I really loved.

The french toast was sweet, and had chocolate syrup on it along with some berries.

For the health freaks, they have some nice salads too. The Apple salad also contains spinach and some cheese chips apart from the grated apple.

If you're looking for something different, there's also the fennel and orange salad. We didn't find this one particularly interesting.

Quinoa Risotto with beetroot carpaccio and broccoli is a good healthy option as well.

If you love tomato, you might like the coca bread. It is a pastry-like bread topped with sun-dried tomato, and roasted eggplant puree.

After this we had the delicious chocolate crepe. I think this was another of my favourite here; it was served with various berries on the side.

We also had the caramel pancake as well as the chocolate pancake. I think I liked the caramel one better.

For drinks, we had a few mojitos. The passion fruits, the blue curacao, the ipanema (passion fruit + strawberry + ginger ale). All of them were pretty good.

The hot chocolate wasn't too bad either.

I had the Spanish latte, and I really liked this one. It was a little sweeter compared to regular latte, and felt comforting.

For desserts, we had the vanilla milk cake which we liked.

We also tried the pistachio variant which was okay.

They also have some good pastries, and we had the mont blanc. I didn't quite like this one. Something about it felt out of place.

The other one which was called "Momoro" was quite good though.

An interesting place to try out, especially if you love egg, since they have some really interesting items.
