Jones the grocer - Dubai Mall

Image
Jones recently opened their new outlet in Dubai mall where they invited me to try out the food. This outlet is bigger than the other one and has a lot of natural light, as well as an outside seating with views of the Burj fountain and souk al bahar. While we waited for our food, they got us some roasted caramelized spicy nuts to munch on. It was a nice combination of spicy with the caramel. The first appetiser I had was the burrata . I must say that this was really creamy and flavourful. A very good burrata after a long time, and if you're a fan, this one won't disappoint you. This was a cold starter and tasted fresh. The next one was the peanut & citrus glazed spicy prawns . They tasted better than they looked. They were crispy on the outside ...

Roda Grill

This place has a nice interior which has a classic feel to it. The wooden interiors coupled with the dim lighting give an upmarket feel to it. A friend of mine invited me here to try out the food.  As we ordered our food, they got us some fresh bread. They were soft and hot, and tasted great with some pesto.  For our appetizer, we ordered the smoked salmon . This was Scottish salmon which was served along with pickled cornichons, silver onions, caper & horseradish cream. The salmon tasted fantastic and the flavours of this dish were complementing each other very well.  The other appetizer was an interesting one. It was fresh burrata and beet hummus . The burrata was creamy and the beet hummus appealed to your taste-buds too. It was garnished with pomegranate seeds and rocca leaves.  For our mains, we tried one of the house specials - the Angus beef and mushroom pie . This was cooked in a brown gravy that was flavourful, although not overpowering....

Mighty Quinn's BBQ

This is a place that serves some amazing bbqs and there's more to it than just that. The secret to the amazing flavour is that they do not grill it on fire, but barbeque it on smoke !  Various meats are barbequed for different times. More on that later.  They invited me to try out their famous brisket, and more.  This brand is born in NYC, and as soon as you enter, it gives you nice feel coupled with the rustic ambience. The interiors are a bit dimly lit, but complement the fell well.  Among their starters, they suggested the chicken wings . These were juicy and soft too. At first bite, I didn't get all that much of a flavour, but when I had it with the sauce that's when I got the amazing flavours. The sauce is where the magic is. The sauce might be a bit spicy for some, but it's well worth it.  The next one was the baked mac and cheese . This one was delicious and really cheesy; although if you're expecting a cheese pull, it does not have that....

Arz Lebanon - Karama

This partiuclar outlet has started just a few months ago, and I've bee a fan since I tried out the food at their other outlet.  The ambiance is great. There's two floors of seating. We sat at the one on top, and it was quiet; we were the only ones there. Service though, was nice. The staff was attentive, and we did not have to wait long if we wanted something.  Started with two types of Hummus' - The hummus beiruty (it is with a hint of garlic), and the hummus tahina. Both of them were really good. They were thick and had a good consistency. Served with hot bread. As for the mains, we had a steak with pepper. This one was really delicious. It was served with grilled vegetables, and fries on the side. We loved the taste of the pepper sauce that it was made in.  We had a falafel too. Many times, the falafel is a too dry, but this one wasn't. It was crunchy and flavorful, and served with tahina sauce. The portion size was bigger than usual, and it wa...
