Jones the grocer - Dubai Mall

Jones recently opened their new outlet in Dubai mall where they invited me to try out the food. This outlet is bigger than the other one and has a lot of natural light, as well as an outside seating with views of the Burj fountain and souk al bahar.

While we waited for our food, they got us some roasted caramelized spicy nuts to munch on. It was a nice combination of spicy with the caramel.

The first appetiser I had was the burrata. I must say that this was really creamy and flavourful. A very good burrata after a long time, and if you're a fan, this one won't disappoint you.

For someone who like Arabic flavours, there was the smoky aubergine dip. This was a cold starter and tasted fresh.

The next one was the peanut & citrus glazed spicy prawns. They tasted better than they looked. They were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside; the flavour was just right too.

If you're a fan of croquettes, you'll like the Wagyu croquettes we had here. I liked the outer coating that wasn't too thick or dry, but just enough to cover the Wagyu and tasted fantastic.

For our salad, we had a grilled steak salad with char-grilled artichokes. I'm not a big fan of artichokes but the grilled steak was really nice. It was juicy and flavourful.

The other salad was the black quinoa, kale & roasted sweet potato salad. It is an interesting combination, and despite me not being a big fan of these, I have taken a bit of a liking towards it recently. The quinoa tasted really good, and the sweet potato went well together with it. There was also avocado on top.

For our mains, we started with the grilled Atlantic salmon. It was so soft that it just broke into smaller pieces the moment you touched it. The spices on it were not overpowering and well complemented the flavour.

If you're a fan of beef grills, then you mustn't miss out on the Jones signature dry aged Australian black Angus tomahawk. This is grilled to perfection, and tasted irresistibly good. The smokey flavour really accentuated the way it tasted.

Another interesting one were the pomegranate and cardamom chicken kebabs. These are made with pomegranate molasses and did taste good, but they were a tad bit dry. Also, I think compared to the others it faded out a bit.

Along with the above dishes, we tried the green chili salsa, the bearnaise, and the bois boudran sauce.

For sides, we had the truffle parmesan fries with truffle mayo which were thin and crispy. The sweet potato fries with sriracha mayo which I liked even more. There were also sauteed mushrooms.

We ended our meal with some really delicious desserts. My favourite one would have to be the Valrhona chocolate cake. It was made from dense dark chocolate.

I also really enjoyed having the chocolate eclair which was rich and delicious.

If you're a fan of the carrot cake, then this one is sure to make you happy.

I found the lemon meringue tart to be a bit on the sweeter side though it looked really appealing.

Last but not the least, we had the pecan caramel bar. This had a burst of caramel and chocolate the moment I took a bite.

We also had live music to accompany us throughout our meal.

I think apart from the food that I totally enjoyed, it is also the ambience here that gives a really nice feel to the place, and makes your dining experience more enjoyable.
