Tabule - Roda Al Murooj

Image
Tabule is a restaurant located in Roda al Murooj, and you guessed it right...it is an Arabic restaurant, since it shares its name with a famous Levantine salad. It has indoor as well as outdoor seating, and as the weather was pleasant, we chose the latter. I like their use of small white lights which gives the place a calm feel.  They welcomed us with a refreshing orange-based drink in a lovely glass.  We started with the usual Arabic cold starters. Of-course we couldn't miss the tabouleh . They have three types of this, and the waiter recommended the one with avocado . I haven't seen any other place that makes this with avocado, and what's even better is that this particular tabouleh is made right at your table! It can't get any more fresher than this. He made it right in front of us. Starting with parsley, moving onto mint, tomatoes, bulghur, lemon juice, pomegranate juice, et al, and last but not the least - avocado. This one tasted really fresh, and i...

Nurai - Lebanese food by the creek

Image
I would like to start by mentioning about the location first. It is beside the Dubai Creek and you get an amazing view of the burj khalifa and the buildings on the other side. Whether you go durin the day or at night, you are sure to love the view.  The restaurant might be a bit confusing to find, but if you follow the map correctly, you'll reach the building. The restaurant has valet parking which costs AED 10. The ambiance of this place is fantastic. They have a smoking area (indoor and outdoor) as well as a non-smoking. I was invited for a tasting here, and the staff that is really courteous offered to set up the table for us, i.e. get their best dishes for us to try out. Their chef Charbel came and explained about their dishes. The manager Charbel (yes, he too had the same name) was friendly and ensured that everything went well throughout. There aren't too many places where I end up liking almost all the dishes, but here I did. We started with the cold mezzeh...

Zaatar w Zeit

Image
Zaatar W Zeit is one of my favourite when it comes to wraps and salads. They have a good choice of healthy food. This outlet is located near the food court in Dubai Festival City. To start with, we ordered a falafel wrap . They also had an offer that day - we could get two sides for AED 5 when we order a main dish. So along with the wrap, we chose a hummus and a quinoa & tabbouleh salad . The sides arrived immediately. The hummus was served with crispy lavash and some chopped cucumber on top. It was really nice. The quinoa & tabbouleh too was good.  Then arrived the falafel wrap. It looked tempting, but it could have tasted better. It was a bit dry. The quantity though was really good. After this we ordered one of my all time favourite from this restaurant - the baked potato and cheese . For anyone who is a fan of potato and cheese, this is a must try. Sprinkle some salt and pepper, and it tastes delicious. This dish isn't too fancy, but its simplicity is wha...
