Shri Krishna Bhavan

We were looking for a good breakfast place on a weekend early morning and since this opens early, we decided to check this out.  They have some interesting menu options and we tried some of the Andhra specialities.  We starred with the gunta punugulu which is basically paniyaram. They were soft on the inside and crispy outside; served with coconut chutney which made it even more flavourful. Next, I had the upma pesarattu . I've had these two separately but was my first time having ti together. It does taste great as a combination too.  Then we had the Karnataka combo tiffin . This has a mangalore bun, akki roti, rava idly, khara bhath, kesari bhath, and coffee. I really liked the managalore bun. It was fresh and slightly sweet.  The akki roti had some nice flavours to it, especially when had with the yellow curry along with it.  The filter coffee no doubt was very good as expected.  It did get quite crowded by the time we were done.  Overall, i...

Burnout cafe

I had heard about this place and wanted to go check it out.  We wanted to grab a bite and were passing by so decided to step in. We weren't here for shisha, but just some food.  For starters, we ordered the buffalo chicken wings and masala fries.  The chicken wings were served in a sweet and spicy gravy (which had capsicum) in it, along with bread on the side. How on earth are these buffalo chicken wings?! The chicken also felt a bit under cooked.  The masala fries took about half an hour to be served. When they were served, we asked if these are masala fries or regular fries, and they confirmed saying that these are masala fries. They had no "masala" on it. Salt and pepper is not the masala that is expected for masala fries. I could order regular fries and ask for salt and pepper on the side. Also, the fries weren't crispy. They suggested us the rice bowls as one of their specialities. We chose the spicy shrimp rice bowl. It was shrimp prepared in a semi-dry s...

That place - Indian contemporary food

They've introduced some new items on their menu and they invites me to try them out.  We their a few of their breakfast items that are egg based curries.  I really liked their Egg chingari which consists of grated boiled eggs in a spicy masala, topped with cheese. They serve is along with spiced buns. If you like spicy, this is a perfect choice.  We also tried the Egg hariyali which was a green gravy made with eggs and served with an omelette, and buns on the side. This is something different, yet tasted really good. Mildly spicy, and flavourful.  They've got momos too and we totally loved it. We tried the mutton momos in schezwan sauce. The filling too had a lot of flaovur to it, and we liked the spicy sauce.  We also tried the mutton momos in hot garlic sauce and these were great too.  For drinks, we had the cold coffee which was quite to my liking. They've got ginger chilli tea which I wasn't a big fan of. Overall, it's a lovely place with som...

The Burrow

Having seen some lovely pictures of this insta-worthy place, we decided to check it out. We drove as per the map and it took us correctly, although it is located in an area where you'd least expect it to be.  It seems like a flowery cafe, but I'd say it is primarily a flower shop which also serves coffee. It is done up really well with flowers all over and some decorative stuff too; at the same time, not overly feminine. They have various flowers that you can buy. Not just that, but they also have a few games, and a scrapbook to draw on.  They have a really good selection of coffees, although the menu doesn't have any bites. It is just a handful of bakery items which are displayed at the counter that are available.  While we waited for our food, they got us some water and dates. I had the iced pumpkin spice latte which was quite good.  The gingerbread latte was something I totally loved.  The hot chocolate was quite good too.  We also had the mozzarel...

Lotsa Pasta

Image
This is a newly started pasta delivery restaurant and offered to send me some of their delicious offerings to try.  For the appetisers, we had the mozzarella sticks which were pretty good. It had a good texture.  The other appetiser was the mac n cheese balls . These were okay; could have been a little more cheesy. For their salad, we tried the  Caesar fusilli salad . You regular Caesar salad with some fusilli pasta in it. It is a nice combination, and tasted quite good with the salad dressing it came with.  I saw they have chicken fajita pasta which was something interesting. This was made with farfalle pasta and was really delicious.  They have combos of appetiser and pasta / salad so you can mix and match. Pretty good food overall although the delivery was delayed a bit more than expected which was a let down.

Food ka Mood

I had heard about this restaurant and the interesting dishes that they serve. Also, the catchy name made me go and try it. We started with a chinese bhel . It was nice and crispy. A good mix of desi and chinese.  An interesting item on the menu is the hariyali pav bhaji . What a lovely twist to one of the most common Indian street food items. The bhaji is green in colour, and it actually tastes good with the pav. It does not taste like a green leafy vegetable but quite different and nice.  I had seen the burj khalifa dosa online and couldn't wait to try it out. The menu lists it as "food ka mood special dosa". It is a stuffed dosa that is kept vertically like rolls. The stuffing is delicious and cheesy. Went totally crazy over it.  Last, but not the least, we had the sizzling brownie . Quite a walnuty brownie served with ice-cream and topped with hot chocolate sauce. It was quite good.  The service is quick too. The dishes were served before expected time. Par...

Liquid Lounge

We were looking for some reasonably priced places with food and alcohol to go on a Saturday night. We chose this place as they had a Zomato pro discount. They had very limited options for mocktails.  We ordered a strawberry mojito was not bad. The virgin pinacolada was basically just pineapple juice. We couldn't taste any coconut milk in it whatsoever.  The beer was the only drink that was good, since obviously they don't make it themselves.  For starters, we had a masala fries , which were good enough.  Then we asked for a portion of chicken buffalo wings . We couldn't really taste the buffalo sauce in the wings, and they seemed like just fried wings.  We finally ordered a cold mezze platter . The consistency of the hummus was too thin - almost like that of laban. It didn't taste good either. The labneh was not bad. The fattoush was below average. The menu said that the cold mezze platter also has moutabel and tabbouleh in it. When the platter was serve...
