Bandstand
This is a newly started restaurant in Royal Ascott hotel. It serves alcohol and has Mumbai style food ("Bandstand" being a name of an place in Mumbai).
It has the vibe of a sports bar and also has a pool table. i was invited here to try out the food.
We started with some interesting cocktails. There was Spice Me Daniel, New York sour, Hot Tequila, Remember Me, Honey Mary and more. The hot tequila was good. Some of the others were good, while some were just average.
To munch with the drinks, we had masala fries. The masala was flavourful and gave a Mumbai style taste.
There was also popcorn bhel which was quite interesting. It is just as the name suggests and is nice as a snack with your drinks.
For the appetisers, we had the prawn koliwada and the fish koliwada. Both of these were delicious. The fish was soft and yum.
They also have vada-pav with a little chilli on top. It reminded me of the way they give it in India. It also had a garlic based spicy powder in it and the taste was nice.
We had egg bhurji too, and the taste was good enough, but the texture could have been better. It was a bit dry.
Last, but not the least, we had the chicken biryani. This didn't exactly taste Mumbai style but was good.
I liked the sea-food items here more than the chicken ones.
The food is reasonably priced, so if you're looking for a place to chill which is not expensive and also serves alcohol, then this is a good choice.
