Rajinikanth 24/7 - south Indian street food and bar

Image
The name of this place definitely needs no introduction. This recently started restaurant based on the name of a superstar serves food from all of South India. They have a lot of street food items too, and it also serves alcohol.  We started with the nannari sarbath which is a famous beverage in south India and has a peculiar flavour.  For the appetisers, we first had some all time favourites like medu vada , masala vada (paruppu vadai). The vadas were nice and crispy and were served with flavourful chutneys. Then we had some fusions ones like Gobi 65 and Chicken 65 which were also quite good.  One of my favourite was the Eggnikanth . This is an egg omelet with stuffing inside. You have a choice of mushrooms or prawns. The stuffing is spicy and I totally loved it. I definitely recommend trying this out.  Another dish which was excellent was the mutton kola urandai which is like a mutton kofta; made from soft and delicious minced mutton....

Acai Nation

Image
I've taken a liking towards health food recently, and was looking forward to some Acai, when these guys offered to send it over for a review.  You can choose between a bowl and a jar, along with various customization options.  I opted for the build your jar which is a totally customizable option. I chose the Pure Acai along with the blueberry blend . For the seeds, there are quite a few choices and I opted for the more traditional one - Granola . There are a lot of extra toppings which you can chose and I added some pomegranate and Greek yogurt .  View this post on Instagram A post shared by Udit 📷 [Famished Explorer] (@uditss) on Jul 26, 2020 at 8:46am PDT The delivery arrived well before expected time and I could only have it after I got back home.  Most of the times I've had Acai freezing cold, but this time since I had waited for a bit, it wasn't freezing by the time I had it and I really liked the taste. The pomegranat...

iWok - Asian delivery outlet

This is an Asian restaurant that sent me some food for a review.  The food was nicely packed and arrived before time.  The Asian quinoa salad was quite good. It came with a sauce on the side which added some flavour. There was some chilli in the salad and I found it a bit spicy though.  The veg tom yum soup was comforting. It was hot and spicy with a tangy flavour to it. The Thai herbs and spices gave a good aroma to it.  For the appetiser, I had vegetable spring roll. It was good but pretty much standard; nothing out of the blue.  For my noodles, I chose udon noodles with burnt chilly sauce. I added some bean sprouts, pak choi, baby corn, snow peas, shitake mushrooms, and tofu to it. The overall flavour was really delicious and all the ingredients tasted great together.  It's a nice place if you're looking for some good Asian food delivered.

Kailash parbat

In search of an upmarket vegetarian restaurant, i stumbled across this one. This is also perhaps the only pure vegetarian restaurant in Dubai that serves alcohol. The ambience is nice and if you're looking for a pure vegetarian restaurant for special occasions, this is the perfect choice. It is located in al seef along the creek so you get a good view too.  They serve Indian as well as Asian and have some interesting dishes. We started with the dal pakwan which is a traditional Sindhi dish. The pakwan was crispy and the dal was delicious.  We also had the lemon coriander soup . The flavour was perfect and it had a mild spicy taste which we liked.  For the mains, we had the amritsari kofta curry . It is prepared in a yellow gravy and has paneer (cottage cheese) and potato dumplings in it. We loved the chunky dumplings and the gravy was nice too.  The other one was the paneer kofta hara masala . This was something different and though it looks like ...

Signature by Sanjeev Kapoor - Vegan Review

Image
We were looking for a good Indian restaurant to go to that has Vegan options. My folks had recently started exploring Veganism (though have always been vegetarian) and wanted to go to a restaurant that caters to this dietary restriction. The restaurant has some vegan options and some other vegetarian dishes that can be made vegan on request.  Most of the below dishes are vegan or can be made vegan on request. We called the chef and he suggested us some dishes based on our preferences. They got us some papads to munch on with an assortment of delicious chutneys / dips.  After this, there was a palate cleanser called the vegetarian Egg Yolk. It only looked like a yolk but was actually a mango liquid inside a gelatinous ball that bursts in your mouth. For our soup, we had the tomato and basmati shorba . It had some pandan leaves in it that gave a nice flavour, and there was murmura (rice puffs) on which they poured the tomato broth. It was tangy, hot, and a bit spicy...

Bandstand

Image
This is a newly started restaurant in Royal Ascott hotel. It serves alcohol and has Mumbai style food ("Bandstand" being a name of an place in Mumbai). It has the vibe of a sports bar and also has a pool table. i was invited here to try out the food. We started with some interesting cocktails. There was Spice Me Daniel , New York sour , Hot Tequila , Remember Me , Honey Mary and more. The hot tequila was good. Some of the others were good, while some were just average.  To munch with the drinks, we had masala fries . The masala was flavourful and gave a Mumbai style taste. There was also popcorn bhel which was quite interesting. It is just as the name suggests and is nice as a snack with your drinks. For the appetisers, we had the prawn koliwada and the fish koliwada . Both of these were delicious. The fish was soft and yum. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Famished Explorer [ UDIT ] (@uditss) on Dec 29,...
