Yalla Momos

 So much has changed about this place since the last time I visited a very long time ago. They invited me to try out their newly launched items. 



They have some really interesting items in their menu. A lot of variations and fusion momo options which are truly out of the box. There's something for everyone's palate.

Perhaps my favourite were the Chilli cheese mushroom momos in schezwan sauce. I totally loved the Chinese flavour that it had to it. 

The chicken momos in dynamite sauce were lip-smacking. 

If you're a fan of butter chicken, they also have the butter chicken momos. The gravy on top really adds a lot of flavour. 

If you're a fan of tandoor items, do check out the tandoori chicken momos. 

I was pleasantly surprised to see sizzlers in the menu. The sizzlers contain momos along with a choice of rice or noodles. It's a nice combination. 

Usually momos lack crunch, but they've come up with an interesting item called kurkure momos. These are crispy fried and have a crunch to it. The filling inside was that of the chicken momos.

For the drinks we had cold coffee and masala sprite.

They've got your sweet tooth covered too. There's a chocolate brownie to satisfy your cravings.

Also, the latest addition are the ice-creams. 

I totally loved the salt lick which is basically salted caramel; definitely worth a try. 

The strawberry one is good too. 

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised to see the latest additions to their menu. A momo place that is much more than momos.

This is a Brazilian brand which has 200 outlets worldwide and has recently started in Dubai with 8 outlets. They invited me to try out their outlet in Citywalk. Most of their outlets here are kiosks but this is a comparatively bigger one. The ambience is nice and they've used a green and purple colour scheme which gives a bit of a earthy vibe.  You can customize your acai bowl or smoothie with the various ingredients that they have.  We took one with Acai, chia seeds, almonds, hazelnut, and strawberry. It was nice and healthy, although colder than usual. If you have it quickly, you might get a brain-freeze.  In the other one we had acai with condensed milk, strawberry, almonds and chia seeds. I liked the flavour of the condensed milk in this one.  It's a good place especially if you like to have something healthy.  Click here to salivate

Humpty Dumpty - desi Chinese

This is a small place located in Karama, and my friends took me there. Initially I was a apprehensive as to how this place might be, but it didn't seem to be all that bad.  We were five of us, and moderately hungry.  We ordered the Schezwan sixer . This is a combo which contains 1 portion of each: fried rice, noodles, chicken gravy, soup, Chinese bhel, chicken lollipop . This costs just about AED 50. The above combo is also available in a vegetarian option which costs around 40 AED.   We started with the soup which I really liked. It was the manchow soup which was spicy and tangy. The chinese bhel was okay. It wasn't so crunchy, and neither did it have a very good taste.  The chicken lollipop wasn't too bad; it were fairly good. Baku food : What did I eat in Azerbaijan?

Azerbaijani food has a lot of Middle Eastern influence, and a lot of dishes are variations of those you get in the Middle East. There were a few good local restaurants I visited, and a few others too. I'm going to talk about all of these in this post.  The name of the dishes may be a bit different in Azeri (language), and some might just be a translation / description of the dish. You can click on the name of the restaurant to get the exact location.   Burc Qala [well known for Azeri cuisine]:- This is located in the heart of the city - Icheri Shehr (which means Old City). While walking through the old forts in this area, we came across this restaurant. The interiors feel really traditional. Also, a lot of shades of red are used. Here, I had the qutab , which is a very famous local dish; more of a snack. It is made from thinly rolled dough, and has filling inside. It usually has two variants - minced meat, and mixed greens.
