Behrouz Biryani

Image
I had heard about this brand and wanted to check it out. They offered to send me some food at home for a review. Since my family is vegetarian , I asked only for veg food.  The delivery arrived on time, and was packed nicely. For starters, we had the spinach corn tikki . It was soft and a little crispy on the outside. It tasted really good and was served with khubz and a salad. For the biryani, we had one subz-e-biryani . The aroma of the biryani was just too good and we couldn't wait to dig in. The flavour too lived up to our expectations and we really liked it.  The other biryani was the zaikedaar paneer biryani . The spiced paneer added a lot of flavour to the biryani, and I enjoyed this even more than the subz-e-biryani. The biryanis were served with raita and gulab jamun. The gulab jamun too was soft and yummy.

Dabang - Ripe Market

Image
This is a food truck located at the Ripe Market in Umm Sequim and I was invited to try out the food here. The market is lively on the weekends but quite secluded on weekdays. We started with the pankhi chicken kebab . These kebabs had stuffing of various spices and it tasted delicious especially along with the sauce that's served with it.  For our mains, we had the fish curry . The fish was fried and the orange semi-gravy was totally on point. It had the flavour of chillies and curry leaves to it.  We had it along with the garlic naan . Then we had the chicken tikka biryani . This was flavourful and had a lovely aroma of the spices to it.  For our dessert, we had the mango falooda . It wasn't overly stuffed with dry fruits which is what I liked. Taste a spoonful and you won't be able to resist.  Lastly, we ended our meal with a hot cuppa chai which felt comforting.  This place is located inside the police academy grounds. Ample parking is available. ...

House of Flavours

Image
This is a multi-cuisine restaurant; they serve Indian as well as Chinese and Fillipino cuisine. I was invited to try out the food here. We started with the lemon coriander soup . It was a bit more lemony than usual, but quite nice.  For starters, we had the paneer chilly which was really good. The paneer was soft and tasted great.  The chilly chicken was average though. The chicken was a bit hard.  You should definitely try the seafood bucket . They pour it on the table and everyone can dig in and have it there. The spices and marination was simply delicious.  View this post on Instagram A post shared by Udit 📷 [Famished Explorer] (@uditss) Then we had some grilled chicken . It was made well and had a nice flavour to it. I also liked the hammour fillet which was made with very little spices, yet tasted really good. We ended our meal with the gajar halwa . The consistency as well as the flavour was spot on.

Uncle Tea

Image
If you're looking for a place with good tea and snacks, this is a good choice. This outlet of theirs is bigger than the other one in barsha, and they invited me to try out the food.  We started with the Bombay vada pav . I'm usually a fan of this one, but the one here was just average. It was a bit dry. Then we had uncle's samosa which was pretty good and was served with chutneys. The chicken grill sandwich was really good. It had a nice filling inside, and was served with fries on the side.  My favourite though was the Keema ghotala pav . The keema had a bit of a different flavour than what we usually have. The consistency was nice and so was the taste. Mexican shawerma was a hit and miss. It looked appealing, and there was a good amount of chicken inside, although it was a bit dry. I did expect more from it.  The tuna melt panini was delicious. It was saucy and creamy. Flavourful inside; hot and crispy on the outside.  They've got pas...

The Royal Buddha

Image
This is a lovely Thai restaurant located in Barsha where we were invited to try out the food.  The ambience is really good, with dim lighting and a Thai feel to it. There's a see-through kitchen too.  They got us some prawn crackers as we waited for our food.  For vegetarians, they also have the regular crackers which I liked even more. They also have a full page of vegetarian dishes in their menu which is very thoughtful considering a lot of people follow this dietary restriction.  For starters, we had the Khong Wang Ruam The Roayl Buddha which is a mixed platter. This consisted of papaya salad which although was fresh, could have had a bit more flavour to it. The prawn cake was quite good, and I liked it especially with the plum sauce. My favourite was the purple flower chicken steamed dumpling. This is a purple coloured dumpling which had a with a juicy chicken stuffing in it. The chicken satay was coated with some nice spices and tasted good with...

D'Fusion - Indian fusion restaurant

Image
This is an Indian restaurant, and as the name suggest, they've made a fusion version of the dishes.  They've got some interesting drinks. I loved the thandi kachi kairi which is a non-alcoholic mocktail. The raw mango flavour with a tangy masala tastes amazing.  They also have a desi version of mojito which is with masala, bombay chuski which is an ice-gola and some interesting cocktails like high-on-chai, tarbooz with booze, kokum express, and more.  We started with the quinoa aloo chana chaat . Quite healthy and also had a good taste.   Galouti kebabs were really soft and flavour; I really enjoyed these.  The kurkuri bhindi is great if you want something crispy to munch on.  Another vegetarian starter which was nice was the hara bhara kebab . The taste and texture, both were good. The murgh angara tikka was flavourful but could have been a bit softer.  If you must definitely try one dish, it is the vol-au-ve...
