Double Decker - burgers and lots more

Image
If you're looking for an upmarket place that is open-air and serves some great burgers, then you've come to the right one. They were having the world burger tour and had invited a few of us for the event.  They had a live burger station where you could customize our burgers. You could choose the bun, the meat, and the fillings, and you could see it being made in front of you. I tried a lamb burger and a chicken one, and I must say both of these were juicy and flavourful. There wasn't much in there apart from the patty and the bun, but it did feel really satisfying.  There also was a burger eating competition that day where there was a 2kg beef burger. "It was huge" and that's an under-statement. Though this isn't the one I had, I really did like the idea of having it.  View this post on Instagram A post shared by Famished Explorer [ UDIT ] (@uditss) on Feb 10, 2019 at 4:16am PST ...

Britannia Brunch at Address Downtown

Image
The Britannia Brunch takes place every Friday at The Restaurant in Address Downtown and I was delighted to be invited here. This was perhaps one of the widest brunch spreads that I've come across. Even before I could enter The Restaurant, it was the design and architecture at the entrance of the hotel that looked lively and welcoming. The restaurant gives a really classy feel from the moment you step in. There is outside seating too, and if the weather is pleasant I'd urge you to sit there as the view is just fantastic. For the brunch, the appetisers are buffet style while the main course is served on the table. There is a selection of breads , cheese , salads (including a live salad station where you can customize your salad) and more. They have a good selection of sea-food too, and this one had some oysters as well. They also have various sushis , and prawns which I found to be really delicious. You've got some kebabs, hot dogs , and burge...

Baker Street - JLT

Image
All you Sherlock fans must be so excited, and rightly so, but don't get your expectations all too high since this place doesn't revolve much around your favourite fictional detective. This place does have a lot of things that are distinctively London which gives it the feel of baker street though. I was invited by a friend to try out the place.  They have some interesting things to drink, and I started with the chilled double chocolate fudge shake - iced . This was delicious. It was served at the right temperature and more importantly it had the right thickness (consistency) to it. It wasn't too thick to make you full, but not too thin and watery either.  We also had one of their muesli shakes . This was milky, not too thick, but was filling and is a great choice for breakfast.  To munch on, we had the classic British item - a toasted sandwich. It was the toasted cheese sandwich which contains English cheddar, tomatoes, branston pickle, and English must...

SMK - Smoked Meat Kitchen

Image
Smoked Meat Kitchen - the name itself sound intriguing since I love things that are smoked. It's got a totally different flavour to it.  I was invited to try out their delicious selection of meats.  This is a small outlet, but their food is so good that you just can't get enough. Also, it is located beside the beach, so when the weather is cooler, it would also feel great to sit here.  From the name, you can tell that their speciality is smoking the meat. They started by smoking some beef ribs in front of us. Just watching it also was making us hungry. They torched it for about a minute or two. After that, the meat just came off the bone. It could also be cut really easily. We tried a bite, and were left wanting for more. It was soft, juicy, and full of flavour. When you order it, it will be served with celery slaw, and you can eat it with a spork (which I find an extremely practical invention).  We then had some chicken wings . These too were ...
