Kulfilicious - Al Nahda

Image
This is definitely the place where I have seen the widest range of kulfi offerings, and I was eagerly looking forward when I was invited to try out their new outlet. They have kulfis as a stick, or you can even have it cut into pieces and served in a bowl. The paan flavour was really nice, and you can't go wrong with this one. You feel like you're having paan. The avocado flavour was something different and I hadn't had it before, but I personally did not enjoy it much. If you like something on the sweeter side, then the rose flavour is also a good option.to it. I also liked the Saffron flavour. It wasn't too sweet, but had a nice flavour of saffron to it. They have interesting items named after various places, and we tried Lahore . It is a combination of jelly and falooda topped with rabdi, and you can have your choice of kulfi with it. This was really nice since you get to have falooda, and at the same time it doesn't become overly sweet...

Kulfilicious - Al Karama

This is perhaps the name that first come to my mind when I think of kulfi. I've visited other outlets of theirs and really liked the offerings. I was invited to try out this outlet.  Just liked the other outlets, this one too is designed in a desi style with a lot of desi / Bollywood things dotting the place.  We started with one of their kul coffees . These are like coffees that have kulfi in it and are available in various flavours. We tried the toffee one and it was really good. It was a tad bit thicker than I would have liked but the taste was nice.  For our kulfi, we first tried the mango kulfi . It was served with real mangoes on the side, which really adds on to the kulfi experience and accentuates the flavours further. We really liked the flavours of this one.  I had had the black pepper kulfi in another outlet, and asked for it here too, but sadly it wasn't available.  So we had the blueberry kulfi . This too was pretty good, but the fl...

Kulfilicious - Al Majaz

I'm a fan of selective Indian desserts, and kulfi is one of them. Kulfilicious has recently opened their new outlet in Sharjah and they invited me to try it out. The place, albeit small, has a colourful decor and you get the desi feel as soon as you enter. They have a couple of tables down, as well as a few upstairs. We sat upstairs and we were the only ones that day. I think the place might feel a bit cramped if there are more people.  I saw some really interesting flavours, and wanted to have them all. Finally, with the help of our friendly server Saheb , we settled down on four.  I think the flavour which I went crazy over was the black pepper . I was a bit surprised to see a kulfi in this flavour, and just had to try it out. It has crushed black pepper, and you might not feel it at the first instance, but wait for a couple of seconds, and you totally get the flavour. The black pepper lingers in your mouth for a while. If you like black pepper, you definitely h...

Kulfi King

This kulfi place had some innovative offerings that they invited my to try out.  It's just a kiosk in the ground floor and you'll see it only if you're passing by. But once you see their offerings, you're sure to try it out. Also, the good thing is that you can see them make it in front of you.  We started with their ice gola . They've got a lot of flavors and instead of just mixing them all, I opted for Mango, Kiwi and Rose. The fruity and sweet flavor were really nice. This was topped with malai and some nuts too which added to the flavor and appeal.  Then we moved on to their kulfi rolls . These are just like the ice-cream rolls that you must have seen online. You can choose a variety of flavors and mix n' match in this too. We had their recommended one - the mixed berry . It contained blueberry, cherry, and strawberry in a vanilla base. It also comes with some strawberry pieces on top which were nice, but the strawberry syrup on top was too sweet f...

Kulfi House

Who doesn't love kufli, right? You wouldn't be reading this if you didn't!  There are quite a few places serving kulfi, but what's different about this place is the kind of flavours that they have.  Gulkand, Oreo, caramel, spicy guava, just to name a few. We really loved the spicy guava kulfi . It tasted like you were having a real guava, and the best part was that it also had some chilli powder on it, just like we have guava in India. It may sound a little weird, but have a bit, and you won't stop at one.  The next one was gulkand . It had a nice rose flavour to it, and was also pretty good. The flavour of this one isn't as prominent as the guava kulfi, but if you like rose, it is certainly worth a try. Another very interesting flavour that I really liked was the blueberry . It isn't overly sweet, but just right and that's what made me like it even more. A blueberry flavour for a kulfi was unthinkable for me...until I had it here.  ...

Kulfiholic - The Mumbai Social

Image
Kulfiholic, The Mumbai Social. These are actually two restaurants in one. It was a mystery to me as to why would they name it Kulfiholic when they serve so much more. That's when I came to know that the Kulfiholic is the kulfi part of it and "The Mumbai Social" is a concept which serves Mumbai street food.  As soon as you enter (or even from the outside actually), you'll see that they've given a very Mumbai-street-like feel to it. They've also incorporated the ambience of a local train.  The walls are filled with very well known sayings / quotations that every Mumbaite can relate to.  For the month of Ramadan, they have an Iftar set menu for just AED 41. This one includes one starter, one main course, one fresh lime soda, and one kulfi.  We were two bloggers and were invited to try out the dishes here. Most of the items that we had were from the Iftar menu, but there were a couple of them which weren't in the menu too.  We started with th...
