Kobe Sizzlers - Umm Hurair

Image
They've opened this outlet fairly recently and I was invited to try out their sizzlers here.  It's located on the first floor where they have a nice seating area, as well as a play area for kids.  We started with some soup. They have a soup called Scotch Broth. It is a mutton soup with a twist. I liked the mutton pieces in it and the broth tasted good too. It had a homely flavour to it.  For the appetisers, there was one of my favourite - dynamite shrimp . It had a nice spicy flavour to it.  One of the classics is the chicken lollipop . It was made well and the schezwan sauce along with it really accentuated the flavour.  Another starter which was really good here was the prawn koliwada . Definitely worth trying out.  For the drinks, they have fresh ice tea which I really liked.  Now moving on to the mains, they've got a good selection of sizzlers. I haven't seen too many places with fish sizzlers, but they do, and I ha...

Kailash parbat

In search of an upmarket vegetarian restaurant, i stumbled across this one. This is also perhaps the only pure vegetarian restaurant in Dubai that serves alcohol. The ambience is nice and if you're looking for a pure vegetarian restaurant for special occasions, this is the perfect choice. It is located in al seef along the creek so you get a good view too.  They serve Indian as well as Asian and have some interesting dishes. We started with the dal pakwan which is a traditional Sindhi dish. The pakwan was crispy and the dal was delicious.  We also had the lemon coriander soup . The flavour was perfect and it had a mild spicy taste which we liked.  For the mains, we had the amritsari kofta curry . It is prepared in a yellow gravy and has paneer (cottage cheese) and potato dumplings in it. We loved the chunky dumplings and the gravy was nice too.  The other one was the paneer kofta hara masala . This was something different and though it looks like ...

Memsaab - Umm Hurair

This particular outlet of Memsaab is located in Healthcare city, and is a pretty small one. It has seating for about 10-12 people. I was invited here to try out the food.  They got us a welcome drink when we got there. It was the jal jeera - a bit tangy than what I've usually had.  For starters, they recommended us the Lucknowi mutton kebabs . They looked quite good, and did taste nice too, although a tad bit dry. Had a nice flavour to it. The next one was the honey chilli potato . It looked really tempting, was crispy, and tasted delicious. I do like mine to be a bit thicker though but I did enjoy these.  View this post on Instagram A post shared by Famished Explorer [ UDIT ] (@uditss) on Jul 27, 2019 at 5:49am PDT For our drinks we had the salted lassi and a fresh lime soda . We asked for the latter one to be made salted but it was sweet and salt mix when it was served. The lassi was good enough and so was the fresh lime soda....

Grub Shack - Indian fusion

Image
I've been wanting to go here since a long time but due to some reason I never ended up going, until this day when a friend of mine invited me here.  The place really has a nice vibe to it. They had live music on the Tuesday when we went. The tables and chairs have an earthy wooden feel.  We started with some of their mocktails. They first got us the jack frost . This is basically a virgin pina colada but light blue in colour, served with smoke around it. I love pina colada and I liked this even better.  The other one was the mango chili and this blew my mind. It had a nice consistency to it; wasn't too watery or toot thick. The chili definitely added that kick to it.  For appetisers, we started with the double dragon king prawns . These prawns were huge, spicy, and crispy. The sauce that it was prepared in gave an Indo-Chinese flavour to it. Being a fan of prawns, I could barely keep my hands off it.  View this post on Instagram ...
