Back to Grills - Asian grills and bbq restaurant

Image
I'm sure most of us love grills, and when I was invited here, I was looking forward to see what are their offerings and the concept. The place is small though cozy, and their menu is a bit different from most of the "grill" places that I've come across.  Before our food arrived, they got us some chinese bhel to munch on. Crunchy, and a hint of spicy and sweet to it.  We started with the veg platter which has some interesting items in it. The one which I totally enjoyed was the soya chhaap. These were soft and really flavourful. There were also the cottage cheese pineapple skewers which were nice, veg brochettes, smoked baby corn, and cream cheese almond broccoli which were also quite good.  They gave a roomali roti along with this which was soft and hot, and goes well with the soya chhaap. For the non-veg starters I had the lamb boti . The lamb was prepared really well in what they call Nawab's secret spices. It is slow cooked on char-grill. Yo...

BBQ delight - Ibn Batuta

Image
This place serves a la carte as well as buffet which is for AED 79. I was invited to try out the food here.  I chose the buffet since that's usually the choice for most of the people. The selection was not bad, though their other branch had more varieties.  We started with the mutton seekh and the chicken seekh kebab . Both were pretty good and well cooked.  The fried prawns and the fried fish tasted alright. The fish could have been a bit softer.  The chicken achari boti was pretty good, and so was the chicken malai tikka .  The mutton ribs were chewy and I didn't like them.  They got us some pani puri which was pretty good. The pani was a bit zestier than usual.  There was the papdi chaat too. The flavour was not bad, but the yoghurt was not mixed well. It was there mostly just on top, whereas the chaat felt a bit bit dry towards the end.  We had the fresh mango juice and the lemon mint ; both of which were rea...

SMK - Smoked Meat Kitchen

Image
Smoked Meat Kitchen - the name itself sound intriguing since I love things that are smoked. It's got a totally different flavour to it.  I was invited to try out their delicious selection of meats.  This is a small outlet, but their food is so good that you just can't get enough. Also, it is located beside the beach, so when the weather is cooler, it would also feel great to sit here.  From the name, you can tell that their speciality is smoking the meat. They started by smoking some beef ribs in front of us. Just watching it also was making us hungry. They torched it for about a minute or two. After that, the meat just came off the bone. It could also be cut really easily. We tried a bite, and were left wanting for more. It was soft, juicy, and full of flavour. When you order it, it will be served with celery slaw, and you can eat it with a spork (which I find an extremely practical invention).  We then had some chicken wings . These too were ...

Mighty Quinn's BBQ

This is a place that serves some amazing bbqs and there's more to it than just that. The secret to the amazing flavour is that they do not grill it on fire, but barbeque it on smoke !  Various meats are barbequed for different times. More on that later.  They invited me to try out their famous brisket, and more.  This brand is born in NYC, and as soon as you enter, it gives you nice feel coupled with the rustic ambience. The interiors are a bit dimly lit, but complement the fell well.  Among their starters, they suggested the chicken wings . These were juicy and soft too. At first bite, I didn't get all that much of a flavour, but when I had it with the sauce that's when I got the amazing flavours. The sauce is where the magic is. The sauce might be a bit spicy for some, but it's well worth it.  The next one was the baked mac and cheese . This one was delicious and really cheesy; although if you're expecting a cheese pull, it does not have that....

Grand Barbeque Buffet Restaurant

Image
This is a buffet restaurant with a special focus on barbecue. I had been here last year, and they invited me again as they have a  new menu now. I must say, all the items were interesting, with almost everything new. There are so many items, that you can barely even taste all of them.  Being an Indian, I can barely resist chaat. Started with the pani puri which was good, the dahi puri even better, and sev puri was the best. A little bit spicy.  I liked the machhi tandoori tikka which was soft and had a good taste.  The tandoori chicken was really spicy, but since I like it spicy, I really enjoyed it.  A post shared by Famished Explorer [ UDIT ] (@uditss) on Nov 25, 2017 at 2:49am PST We ordered a sangria for the drinks. This had a bit of a gulkand taste, and I liked it initially, but after a few sips, it becomes too sweet.  We also had the desi version of thumbs up (with chaat masala). It was really good. I enjoy...
