Mugg & Bean

This was a catchy name and I was looking for a new coffee shop to try out. The first thing I noticed, before I even reached the cafe, is that there is free parking available. This is really nice. It is located inside a tiny mall, and the mall has its own parking. We ordered two egg dishes. The classic Benedict and the omelette. Both of these were really good. The eggs were well done, the flavors were right, and the quantity was quite a bit. It was very filling too.  The benedict is served with shaved smoked turkey which is oh so good.  A post shared by Famished Explorer [ UDIT ] (@uditss) on Oct 15, 2017 at 6:35am PDT Along with this, they have a choice of tea / coffee. We chose the filter coffe for both. The filter coffee was okay. Not quite upto the mark. I liked the ambiance. It has a sort of an upmarket feel to it. Also, it was quiet, and proved to be a good place for meetings.

Arz Lebanon - Karama

This partiuclar outlet has started just a few months ago, and I've bee a fan since I tried out the food at their other outlet.  The ambiance is great. There's two floors of seating. We sat at the one on top, and it was quiet; we were the only ones there. Service though, was nice. The staff was attentive, and we did not have to wait long if we wanted something.  Started with two types of Hummus' - The hummus beiruty (it is with a hint of garlic), and the hummus tahina. Both of them were really good. They were thick and had a good consistency. Served with hot bread. As for the mains, we had a steak with pepper. This one was really delicious. It was served with grilled vegetables, and fries on the side. We loved the taste of the pepper sauce that it was made in.  We had a falafel too. Many times, the falafel is a too dry, but this one wasn't. It was crunchy and flavorful, and served with tahina sauce. The portion size was bigger than usual, and it wa...

Bombay Bungalow

This place was previously called the "house of curry", and now it has got a complete makeover. We were at JBR walk, and looking for an Indian restaurant. There aren't many choices so we ended up going here.  The ambiance inside is really nice. They've got a mini fountain inside, and some trees too, and especially the Indian Monalisa that caught my attention. The starters were really interesting. They were a fusion of sorts. After seeing " calamari bhel " in the menu, obviously I couldn't resist ordering. This one was really yum. The chutneys aren't as much as you'd expect in a bhel, and it is a bit dry, but taste is good nonetheless. Now I love paneer, and I'm a big fan of zaatar. Guess what I see on the menu next. The zaatar paneer tikka ! This one wasn't all that bad. The flavor of zaatar wasn't so prominent, and overall felt a bit bland, though the paneer was soft. I was expecting more from it. It is served with a tahi...

Drop Dubai

We're always on the lookout for a good coffee place, and after looking for some new places online, the name 'Drop' seemed really catchy, so we decided to check it out.  You get the aroma of coffee even before you enter the cafe, and the feeling is heavenly.  Their speciality is the slow brewed coffe, and so we ordered the cold chemex pour over . This one was really good. Poured over ice, I really enjoyed it.  In the mood for some regular hot coffee, my friend ordered a cappuccino . This one wasn't all that good, and we didn't quite like it.  Wanting something sweet, we decided to order a brownie too; chose the fudge brownie . It tasted okay. It was just a tiny piece, and priced at AED 12, which we did not find worth it at all.  The ambiance though was good. I think it was the aroma that I really liked. Also, the seating is innovative. They've got tables for two like the one pictured below, and stools too.  The place was a bit crowded...

Volt Kitchen

Right from the name itself, this place sounds like it is a high energy one, and from my experience, I can tell you that you are sure to love it.  From the time I entered, or actually even before that, you feel welcomed.  The staff is very courteous, and guided us to a table. Since I was invited here, they told me about their best-sellers from each section so that we can try the best of their food. Most of it was fantastic, and I loved every bit of the experience here. We started with their Rainbow fries . These are fries with four types of cheese, jalapenos, and more, and they are delicious. The quantity is quite a bit so it would be good for sharing among 2-3 people.  For the drinks, we had a lemon mint juice which was nice, and a cold spanish latte which felt refreshing and sweet too.  Now who doesn't love the classic mac and cheese? We all do. These guys though how can they make it different. So they made the mini macs  which is a small an...

Soulfull

The food here touches your soul. It is not just healthy, but also innovative.  I was invited for a tasting here, and as soon as I saw it from far, I noticed the green ambiance. The interiors too give a very healthy feel.  We started off with the mango ginger lemonata . It is a refreshing drink that is a bit tangy; and the overtones of ginger made us love it to the core. I definitely recommend having this.  Along with this we had the pumpkin falafel . The pumpkin tasted pretty good and the falafels overall had a good taste, but were a bit too soft and squishy for a falafel.  I've recently become a fan of the sweet potato fries. They have the baked ones which we had. These tasted okay. They needed to be more crispier.  Every day they have a special soup of the day. This particular day it was the carrot coconut . I'm not a big fan of coconut, but the flavor of coconut is extremely mild in this one. Also, the soup is thick so it is kinda filling to...
