Behrouz Biryani

I had heard about this brand and wanted to check it out. They offered to send me some food at home for a review. Since my family is vegetarian , I asked only for veg food.  The delivery arrived on time, and was packed nicely. For starters, we had the spinach corn tikki . It was soft and a little crispy on the outside. It tasted really good and was served with khubz and a salad. For the biryani, we had one subz-e-biryani . The aroma of the biryani was just too good and we couldn't wait to dig in. The flavour too lived up to our expectations and we really liked it.  The other biryani was the zaikedaar paneer biryani . The spiced paneer added a lot of flavour to the biryani, and I enjoyed this even more than the subz-e-biryani. The biryanis were served with raita and gulab jamun. The gulab jamun too was soft and yummy.

Dabang - Ripe Market

Image
This is a food truck located at the Ripe Market in Umm Sequim and I was invited to try out the food here. The market is lively on the weekends but quite secluded on weekdays. We started with the pankhi chicken kebab . These kebabs had stuffing of various spices and it tasted delicious especially along with the sauce that's served with it.  For our mains, we had the fish curry . The fish was fried and the orange semi-gravy was totally on point. It had the flavour of chillies and curry leaves to it.  We had it along with the garlic naan . Then we had the chicken tikka biryani . This was flavourful and had a lovely aroma of the spices to it.  For our dessert, we had the mango falooda . It wasn't overly stuffed with dry fruits which is what I liked. Taste a spoonful and you won't be able to resist.  Lastly, we ended our meal with a hot cuppa chai which felt comforting.  This place is located inside the police academy grounds. Ample parking is available. ...

Hyderabadi Biryani House

This is a newly opened outlet and they invited me to try out their biryanis. They have outdoor seating as well as a few tables indoor upstairs. We started with the chicken tikka balochi . They served it along with smokey charcoal which gives a nice flavour to it.  Then we had the chicken tikka zafrani which too is served with the smokey charcoal. It has a saffron flavour to it which was nice, though a little bit on the sweeter side.  I really enjoyed the shami kebab . These are soft and flavourful. Definitely worth trying.  The seekh kebab was good enough. It tasted good, but could have been a bit softer.  For the mains, we first had the egg masala which was made in a rice flavourful gravy.  We had it along with a roomali roti which was big and served hot.  They recommended the chicken 65 biryani which is one of their top selling ones. It was my frist time trying it and it was delicious. The chunky pieces of chicken in Chinese sauces tasted inter...

Dum Biryani

Image
If you're here, I'm sure you are a fan of biryani! Well, who isn't? My favourite is the chicken dum biryani and that's what I oredered here. It did have a good flavour to it, although it was a tad bit dry. If not for the dry bit, then it was great.  I tried the vegetairan paneer biryani too, and surprisingly I really liked it. The paneer was flavourful and tasted great with the rice and the masala.  They do have quite a wide variety of biryanis and perhaps I'll get a chance to try a few more of them sometime.

Biryani Culture - vegetarian delivery review

Image
This is a delivery only restaurant located in Karama and they offered to send me some food to try out. Since my family is vegetarian, I opted for vegetarian dishes. They have a small menu and the vegetarian options are extremely limited. The first was a starter - the tawa paneer kebab . Paneer was marinated in a spicy masala. The masala was definitely flavourful, however I was expecting the paneer to be a bit softer. The veg biryani was served with raita. The biryani tasted just average. I could have had more masala and some more vegetables in it. It felt like there was just rice in it. This too could have been a bit softer.

Mr. Biryani

It had biryani in its name and that had my attention. I was looking forward to this place when they invited me.  I wasn't expecting much from the ambience but it was lovely and felt upmarket. The interiors is a bit on the darker side. We started with the tandoori sea-food platter. It was really interesting. I liked the prawns in this. The lobster was good too.  There was a Chinese platter too and it had a variety of items. I especially liked the spring rolls and the chicken lollipop. The sauces with it accentuated the flavours. Another classic Indo-Chinese is the chilly chicken, and this was made well too, and had a saucy flavour to it. They also have Iranian mixed grill which I found a bit weird. I did not like the kebabs in this one. For our beverages, we had some some juices. There was watermelon, pineapple, and orange. All of these were freshly squeezed. Now coming to the mains, I had the chicken schezwan fried rice which was really good. It wasn...

Curry Chatti - vegetarian review

Image
This is a restaurant located in Karama and they offered to send me food for a review.  Since my family is vegetarian, I asked for pure vegetarian food only.  View this post on Instagram A post shared by Famished Explorer [ UDIT ] (@uditss) on Dec 7, 2019 at 7:57am PST The delivery was on time and he did not have to call to ask for directions. For starters, they sent me the gobi manchurian. It was really good and had the comforting Indo-Chinese flavour to it. It was semi-dry and prepared in an orange-ish sauce.  Their specialty is biryani, and they sent me the vegetable biryani. It was made malabar style and packaged in a nice container. The rice was white and smaller than the usual biryani rice. The taste was really good. It had a good amount of vegetables as well as masala in it. I personally like the North Indian style of biryani more, so something with smaller rice may not be my first choice for a biryani, but if you're a fan of ...

Dabang kathi and curry - new menu

Image
The name Dabang itself is really catchy and filmy, and their food also is really Dabang! It is an outlet located in the food court of Marina mall, and I didn't have much expectations from this, but I gave it a shot when they invited me to try out their newly launched menu and it certainly surpassed my expectations.  They've recently got chef Sohan Bhandari who was heading a very well known chain of an Indian restaurant in the city. They've also revamped their menu to include some really interesting items. We started with the samosa chana chaat . It was made pretty well; not too soggy, but just the right amount of ingredients, and it tasted great. Then they got us some onion bhajiya and said these are the chef's special. I wondered as to how different could onion bhajiyas get. Oh boy I was wrong. These were perhaps the best onion bhajiyas I've had. They were really crispy and were sprinkled with the chef's special masala on it. I had never though...
