Nar - motor city

In search of a nice restaurant for Iftar we decided on this one. 

 It was AED 70 for a set menu which seemed reasonable. 

 The restaurant has seating downstairs as well as upstairs (which is an indoor smoking area).

 They had a choice of laban or jallab among the drinks. We tried both of these and they were good. 

Then they got us some lentil soup which was served in a nice bowl. This too tasted quite good. 

 On the side was the fattoush. It was crunchy but didn't feel really fresh. 

 I liked the hummus which had a nice consistency to it. 

 There was sojuk too which are Arabic sausages. They were spicy and tangy which I liked. 

 We could then choose one main dish for the main course. I had the shish tawook. Usually I like this dish but this one was a bit dry and tasted average. 

 For AED 70 I think the above items were a bit less. There are other restaurants that have more number of items for iftaar. 

 There was dessert too but I had to leave early so I didn't try it out. 

 The service overall was just okay. The staff wasn't serving with a smile, and it didn't feel very welcoming.

This is a Brazilian brand which has 200 outlets worldwide and has recently started in Dubai with 8 outlets. They invited me to try out their outlet in Citywalk. Most of their outlets here are kiosks but this is a comparatively bigger one. The ambience is nice and they've used a green and purple colour scheme which gives a bit of a earthy vibe.  You can customize your acai bowl or smoothie with the various ingredients that they have.  We took one with Acai, chia seeds, almonds, hazelnut, and strawberry. It was nice and healthy, although colder than usual. If you have it quickly, you might get a brain-freeze.  In the other one we had acai with condensed milk, strawberry, almonds and chia seeds. Humpty Dumpty - desi Chinese

This is a small place located in Karama, and my friends took me there. Initially I was a apprehensive as to how this place might be, but it didn't seem to be all that bad.  We were five of us, and moderately hungry.  We ordered the Schezwan sixer . This is a combo which contains 1 portion of each: fried rice, noodles, chicken gravy, soup, Chinese bhel, chicken lollipop . This costs just about AED 50. The above combo is also available in a vegetarian option which costs around 40 AED.   We started with the soup which I really liked. It was the manchow soup which was spicy and tangy. The chinese bhel was okay. It wasn't so crunchy, and neither did it have a very good taste.  The chicken lollipop wasn't too bad; it were fairly good. Baku food : What did I eat in Azerbaijan?

Azerbaijani food has a lot of Middle Eastern influence, and a lot of dishes are variations of those you get in the Middle East. There were a few good local restaurants I visited, and a few others too. I'm going to talk about all of these in this post.  The name of the dishes may be a bit different in Azeri (language), and some might just be a translation / description of the dish. You can click on the name of the restaurant to get the exact location.   Burc Qala [well known for Azeri cuisine]:- This is located in the heart of the city - Icheri Shehr (which means Old City). While walking through the old forts in this area, we came across this restaurant. The interiors feel really traditional. Also, a lot of shades of red are used. Here, I had the qutab , which is a very famous local dish; more of a snack. It is made from thinly rolled dough, and has filling inside. It usually has two variants - minced meat, and mixed greens.
