Mr. Crab
Mr. Crab has recently opened their outlet in Burjuman and I was invited by a friend to try it out.
It is right opposite Carrefour, and there are a lot of people passing by so if you're sitting on one of the outer tables, it might be a bit uncomfortable for some, though the inner ones are comparatively okay but might feel a bit noisy during peak hours.
They got us some really good prawn crackers to start with as we decided on the food.
For our starters, we had the dynamite shrimp. These were crispy which I liked and the spice level was spot on.
The next appetiser was the crab-meat nachos. These looked really tempting but tasted okay. The nachos had become soggy, and I would have liked it to have more flavour to it too.
Our final appetiser was the fish tacos. We asked for these to be made in the hard-shell. These were flavourful and I liked the filling inside, but I would suggest sticking to the recommended soft shell tacos for this one.
For our drinks, we had a kiwi breeze which was more lemony than we expected but tasted good.
We also had the peach frost. I found this refreshing though the flavour of peach wasn't very prominent.
Coming to the mains, we had to try their star dish which is the crab-o-nanza. There are many options in this one and we had the mud-crab-o-nanza. Apart from the obvious mud crab, it also has shrimps; we asked them not to include the mussels though, which are otherwise a part of it. It is made in their homemade Cajun sauce. On the side you get corn on cob, baby potatoes, choice of rice or fries, and ice-teas. They first put sheets on the table, and then just spread the crab-o-nanza over them. You also get an apron and gloves to enjoy it even more. I really liked the flavour of the crab. The potatoes and the corn on the side complemented it well. I found the Cajun sauce to be too salty and overpowering though.
For our desserts, we had the cookie in a pan. It is a soft and moist cookie with chocolate chips served with a huge scoop of ice-cream and then drizzled with chocolate and caramel sauce. It tasted good enough.
The last dessert was the Matcha lava which is a lava cake filled with Matcha sauce and served with ice-cream. I really liked the Matcha ice-cream but the Matcha lava wasn't something I enjoyed.
Some of the staff members were new and had a bit of trouble understanding us.
I had a mixed experience overall. There were some food items which were good which some could have been better.
