Memsaab - North Indian



I had heard really good things about this place and went there on being invited to try it out. 
The interiors are nice and they also have outside seating. 

We started with some drinks - the mint cooler, fresh lime soda, and watermelon juice. They were really refreshing. 





The samosa chaat and papdi chaat weren't great. I did expect better. 



For the starters, the paneer tikka was nice. It had a nice flavour to it. 

The seekh kebabs looked amazing but tasted average. They could have had some more flavour. 

For the mains, the bhindi masala that we had was really good. It had a homely taste to it. 

The butter chicken was also quite good. It had a nice creamy texture. 
Dal makhani was something that I liked here They had prepared it well. 

For our desserts, we had the gulab jamun. These were served hot and definitely tasted good. 

The food overall was just about acceptable.

This is a Brazilian brand which has 200 outlets worldwide and has recently started in Dubai with 8 outlets. They invited me to try out their outlet in Citywalk. Most of their outlets here are kiosks but this is a comparatively bigger one. The ambience is nice and they've used a green and purple colour scheme which gives a bit of a earthy vibe.  You can customize your acai bowl or smoothie with the various ingredients that they have.  We took one with Acai, chia seeds, almonds, hazelnut, and strawberry. It was nice and healthy, although colder than usual. If you have it quickly, you might get a brain-freeze.  In the other one we had acai with condensed milk, strawberry, almonds and chia seeds. Humpty Dumpty - desi Chinese

This is a small place located in Karama, and my friends took me there. Initially I was a apprehensive as to how this place might be, but it didn't seem to be all that bad.  We were five of us, and moderately hungry.  We ordered the Schezwan sixer . This is a combo which contains 1 portion of each: fried rice, noodles, chicken gravy, soup, Chinese bhel, chicken lollipop . This costs just about AED 50. The above combo is also available in a vegetarian option which costs around 40 AED.   We started with the soup which I really liked. It was the manchow soup which was spicy and tangy. The chinese bhel was okay. It wasn't so crunchy, and neither did it have a very good taste.  The chicken lollipop wasn't too bad; it were fairly good. Baku food : What did I eat in Azerbaijan?

Azerbaijani food has a lot of Middle Eastern influence, and a lot of dishes are variations of those you get in the Middle East. There were a few good local restaurants I visited, and a few others too. I'm going to talk about all of these in this post.  The name of the dishes may be a bit different in Azeri (language), and some might just be a translation / description of the dish. You can click on the name of the restaurant to get the exact location.   Burc Qala [well known for Azeri cuisine]:- This is located in the heart of the city - Icheri Shehr (which means Old City). While walking through the old forts in this area, we came across this restaurant. The interiors feel really traditional. Also, a lot of shades of red are used. Here, I had the qutab , which is a very famous local dish; more of a snack. It is made from thinly rolled dough, and has filling inside. It usually has two variants - minced meat, and mixed greens.
