Bombay Brasserie

Was looking for a good Indian restaurant to celebrate a birthday and settled on this one. I booked a table from Zomato and got a confirmation soon. On our way there, I got a call saying that the Burj Khalifa view wasn't available (since I had specified that in my reservation). It was a bit of a disappointment, but we went there nonetheless.

Once there, the ambiance was good; but a bit dark. Chairs weren't all that comfortable to sit for a long time.

Started with a mocktail and a chaat. Ranjha, the mocktail, had passion fruit, mango, and a few more and tasted really good and fruity. We ended up ordering two more. Order it without ice and it tastes much better till the end.

We asked the Papdi chaat to be made without onions. They got one with onions in it. When we asked, he went inside to check with the chef, and later got it replaced. The taste wasn't bad

For main we had the palak paneer. It had huge chunks of paneer, and no, the huge size doesn't make it better. It makes it worse. Overall, the taste of the Palak paneer was okay.

Another vegetable that we had was the Subzi mandi. This is a mixed vegetable with medium gravy. This one was better. Although I was expecting something better from them.

For the breads we had the Pudina paratha and a gobi paratha good. I really liked both the parathas. The pudina paratha was crispy and the gobi paratha had a good amount of stuffing in it and tasted good.

We also had a vegetarian biryani. It was a dum biryani and we got the lovely aroma as soon as it was brought to our table. The biryani tasted good, but felt a bit bland. It could have had some more spices to it.

I had an interesting service experience here. I had told them that we were celebrating a birthday; so obviously they  knew we'd need a cake later.
Their cakes contain egg, and noticing our dietary requirements throughout the course of the meal, they observed that we're having vegetarian food and they shouldn't serve us that. So they prepared a special vegetarian dish for us - the
Khajoor anjeer halwaThis halwa was really delicious. We could taste the ghee in this one and it wasn't overly sweet, but tasted just perfect.

They also got a guitar and sang "Happy Birthday" which was a nice gesture.

To give you the real Indian feel, they have the traditional Indian way for washing your hands, and it is done without you having to leave the confines of your table.

I would like to especially mention two of the staff here - Sumit and Sandeep. Both of them did an amazing job. They were really courteous and did everything they could to make sure we had a memorable evening.

We were done with our dinner and were waiting for quite some time for (supposedly the) cake (since I had forgotten to tell them about the eggless part), and during this time I told Sumit that the service was really slow. He did not retaliate or try to justify. Later, when they got us our customized vegetarian sweet dish, it was then that I realized why it was taking so long.
These two guys were really doing their best to make sure everything went right.

If I had to rate it based only on these two guys, I would give it a perfect score. If I had to rate it just for the food though, I would rate it much lower. Also, the price are really high compared to the way the food tastes.
