Going Social with Desserts
I'm sure we've all seen Social House in Dubai mall and how inviting it looks. We decided to try out the desserts here.
We went there late afternoon and there weren't too many people. You sat at a corner table overlooking the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai fountains.
The look and feel of this place is earthy. They've got trees inside and lots of use of wood with a golden / brown theme.
The service was a bit slow and it took a few minutes before they gave us a menu. The attentiveness of the staff in general could have been better.
They've got a separate menu for desserts and they've got quite a few interesting ones in there and it was a task to choose.
We finally settled for the four below:
Mississippi mud pie : When I'm in the mood for something chocolatey but not too sweet, this would be my choice. This one was really amazing. It was a bit grainy and coarse and you could taste the chocolate, and at the same time not overly sweet. It comes with cream on top which goes really well along with it.
Blueberry cheesecake: This one was berrylicious. It's hard to go wrong with a cheesecake especially when there are blueberries in it. The flavours were great and the sweetness was right too. We could get the flavours with every bite.
Chocolate mud cake : I think this was the most tempting looking of the lot. It was served with a scoop of ice-cream on the side. At first bite you could feel the burst of chocolate in your mouth; later though, it was a bit overly chocolatey and sweet. Also, it had bananas in it of which I'm not a big fan.
Churros: I'm not much of a churros lover, but I must say these were delicious! They were a bit crunchy which was a good thing and I almost didn't need the chocolate sauce that was served with it. The churros tasted good just by themselves.
Crunch! Crunch! Crunch!
