Baydar
This restaurant is located inside Al Barsha Mall and the first thing I noticed before I even entered is that the parking is easy to find; but at the same time, this mall is a small one and doesn'thave too many shops. This was the first time I was going to this mall since I was invited by this restaurant.
As soon as you enter, you notice the fantastic view from this place. It is beside the Barsha Pond Park, and you get a view of the Burj-Al-Arab too.
We ordered the mezzeh platter to start with. It comes with a selection of hot and cold mezzeh. I really liked the meat kibbeh as the meat was really soft, and the cheese rekak was delicious. The hommos and moutabel were nice too. The platter also has vine leaves, meat sambousek, and spinach fatteyer, and is served with a salad on the side. They also give you fresh hot breads along with olives, pickles, and a lovely labneh.

In the mood for some healthy salads, we ordered the tabbouleh, a fattoush, and the rocca zaatar. All the salads were really fresh and you could feel that in every bite. The fattoush wasn't too tangy, and we really liked it; the tabbouleh was good too. The rocca though wasn't all that great.
We also ordered a batata hara as an additional side-dish and the portion size was really good and so was the taste.
For the drinks, we had a lemon mint juice, and a new drink which they are soon planning to introduce - the detox ice-tea. This is made of fruit-infused water, and black tea is added to it. This was something really interesting and worth trying out.
They have a lot of interesting grills and kebabs and we ordered the mix grill. I quite liked the shish tawook in this as it was a bit softer than most places. The sheekh kebab wasn't bad either. The lamb kofta kebab was okay. The platter also had a meat arayes in it and I really loved it. It had a smokey flavor to it.
They also suggested us the sojouk, which is a spicy middle-eastern sausage. It is made in a tomato based sauce. This one was juicy from the outside and meaty from the inside. Delicious.
We had the makanek too, which is a less spicier version of the sojouk, and has pomegranate sauce in it. This was okay. It felt like it lacked taste.
Their waitress Jasmine was really courteous and friendly. She recommended the lamb chops. The lamb chops were juicy, but could have been better if they were a bit softer.
To satisfy our sweet tooth, the manager recommended the vanilla milkshake. This one was really thick and came in a large glass.
He also brought us some umm ali. I've had this at a few other places before, but I think the one that I had here was among the best ones. It wasn't as moist as it is usually, and was to my liking. It was not overly sweet, but something I could really go on eating (which I did despite being really full). It was garnished with pistachio powder and almond shavings.
While speaking of Arabian food, one cannot forget the kunafa. We ordered a cheese kunafa. It looked tempting when served, but the taste did not live up to it. It wasn't sweet at all, and though they gave sugar syrup on the side, it's not the same thing as having the sweetness in the kunafa itself. I could only taste the cheese. Also, I definitely want the crispy vermicelli in my kunafa which this one didn't have.
