Vox Gold with a menu by Gary Rhodes
This is a concept where you have a menu designed especially for this theatre experience by celebrity and Michelin star chef Gary Rhodes. The seats are semi-reclining; they do not have and special support for your legs though which I was expecting. This particular experience of mine was in the Burjuman outlet.
As soon as you enter, they have a lounge where they give you the menu and you place the order. They have a wide variety of menu ranging from starters to desserts; there are some innovative drinks too and a recently added Indian menu. You need to place your order in the lounge and pay. They will serve the dishes at your seat as and when they're ready. There is no call bell at your seat so you cannot call them in case you need them which can be a slight bit of a hassle. Though they were kind enough to take the order for another dish when they came to serve the dish which we had previously ordered.
Once you're done, the host(ess) will take you up to the floors on which there is the gold screen. They also have blankets available on request.
I had the Roast Cashew nut and Egg noodle stir fry. Apart from the noodles, this dish contains snap peas, water chestnuts, enoki mushrooms, bok choy with ginger and honey dressing. If you like stir fry, you will really like this. This one costs AED 45. You can also add 3 prawn sticks for AED 35. There is a chicken option too.
We also had the roast butternut squash tacos. The tacos contain spinach, avocado & mango mayonnaise which was an interesting combination and it is a treat for your taste-buds. This one was for AED 65
The last item we had was the sweetcorn and chilli sliders. These contain avocado, tomatoes and lettuce apart from the sweetcorn patty. There are french fries on the side too. The fries were pretty good, but the sliders tasted okay. They were a bit dry and not much to our liking. These were for AED 45
Overall, I found the food a little pricey, and if you add drinks and dessert, you would end up spending quite a bit for the food that you will be eating in the dark.
The good part though is that the Gold experience is covered under the Du Tuesday offer of buy 1 get 1 free, so two people can experience this for the price for around AED 90 ++.
