La Farine - part of the "Eat Healthy Live Healthy" initiative by Dubai Mnicipality
La Farine is a French restaurant in J.W. Marriott Marquis with a nice decor. It has a seating area which gets ample of natural sunlight, as well as one that is a bit dark and cosy with really nice seating.
Now coming to the main highlight of this post. The Food Safety Department of Dubai Municipality has come up with a very nice initiative of "Eat Healthy. Live Healthy", where they certify dishes which meet certain Nutrition standards. They invited me to this restaurant that has 6 of these certified dishes. I will talk about the nutrition standards later in this post.
The really good thing and an eye-opener for most people is that healthy food is so much more than salads. Also, for someone like me who wasn't much of a healthy eater, seeing so many options including meat is such a delight.
Grilled Lamb Chops: The lamb is sourced from Australia, and it is marinated in herbs such as parsley. It is topped with smoked Viking Salt and served along with bread crusted cherry tomato. I'm sure your mouth is watering already.

As I mentioned earlier, here are the prescribed criteria by the Food and Safety Department for the dishes to get the "Eat Healthy Live Healthy" logo. They're divided into two categories as under: 1) Primary Criteria , 2) Nutrition Criteria :
It was really nice to know that the Dubai Municipality is taking initiative to promote healthy eating for a better lifestyle especially since we have so much of variety in terms of food here, and a considerable amount of the population ends up eating junk food and suffer from some kind of major or minor disorders.
This initiative certifies particular dishes in a restaurant that meet the criteria and not exactly the whole restaurant. For a restaurant to apply, it need to have at least 2 main dishes that meet the requirements. In the second phase of certification, the Dubai Municipality certified 19 restaurants as under:
Eat Healthy. Live Healthy! Look for this logo next to the dishes:
