Society Cafe and Lounge

The amazing decor of this place is what totally got me sold. It might be a little confusing to locate but the map on zomato is correct and takes you exactly there. The good thing is that there is parking right outside the place.

They've recently revamped their decor and this one is really amazing. The colour scheme of white and blue/green feels soothing and classy.

I had been there for their iftar preview, and they had a good selection of items. The Iftar starts from sunset and goes on until 10am. It is prices at AED 180 per person.

You can choose from one soup, one main, one beverage, unlimited buffet selection of cold and hot starters, and one dessert.

To start with, they brought us some assorted fruits like figs, dates, and prunes topped with some pistachio.

For my soup, I had the Harissa & chickpea soup. It is a Moroccan style soup which is a tad bit spicy. It tastes really good; I especially liked the chickpeas in this one.

For my beverage, I had the jellab, which had ample pine nuts in it, and tasted sweet and very refreshing.

Among the cold starters, I really loved the labneh; it had a creamy consistency to it. The hummus was also really good.
The fattoush was okay and the tabbouleh felt a bit dry.
Among the hot ones, the batata hara was great, and so was the spinach & feta fattayer.  The duck fattayer though wasn't much to my liking.
The falafel was crunchy and a bit different than the usual Arabic ones that we have.

The have a good selection of mains as well, and after much pondering, I decided on the lamb ouzi. It is served in a big bowl and it covered in a thin and crispy bread. It is served with three sauces - red pepper sauce, garlic, sauce, and saffron yoghurt. The ouzi tasted pretty good, especially the rice which had nuts in it. The lamb was soft and cooked very well. The garlic sauce and the red pepper sauce complemented the flavour of this one very well.

They've got a huge selection of desserts, and for this, you'll really be spoilt for choice.
The vanilla bake cheesecake is to die for. I definitely recommend trying this one out. It is pure indulgence.

The baklava looked really tempting, but the taste was just about okay. It just didn't feel right.

They also have some interesting croissants as well as other desserts like the cinnamon & maple nut danish, brownies, pecan pie, raspberry pistachio pie, strawberry cake with pistachio.

They also have suhoor for AED 150 which is from 11pm to 2am.

Here are the choices for the beverages and mains for Iftar.

The ambience and the dessert definitely make this place worth visiting.
