Shababeek
Shababeek is a restaurant located in the Qasba area in Sharjah right at one of the ends of the bridge. They ambience is classy and a bit earthy too. They've used shades of white, green, and brown, and the place is bright overall.
They're having a nice iftar menu for which they invited me recently. They have two set menu options. One of them is for AED 90 and the other one is for AED 120.
For salads, they have the rocket salad, zaatar salad, and the fattouch baladeh which was okay.
Among the cold mezze, they have hummus bi taheeneh which was really nice, the baba ghanouj which was also pretty good, the vine leaves in oil which I liked since they were not too sour.
They have some mouajanat (hot pastries) too and I really liked the kibbeh. Even after we had it after some time after it had become a bit cold, it still tasted really good. The sambousek bi lahme (lamb samosa) was good, and we really liked the cheese roll.
For the hot mezze they have the fattet hummus which had a really nice taste to it.
The kebab karaz was something that I tried out for the first time, and I love it. These are round lamb kebabs coated with cherry sauce. Initially it might sound a bit weird, but it tastes nice.
Among the main, the oriental braised lamb shank was the highlight. This wasn't like the traditional lamb shank that you'd expect, but their version of it. It was minced lamb with nuts that was filled inside a pastry.
This looked really appealing and the taste also lived up to it.
I think the lamb biryani was something that I really enjoyed, and you shouldn't miss out on this one. It has yellow rice, and does not have too many spices. It is served along with the raita.
For drinks, they have jelleb, various juices, as well as tea and coffee.
To satisfy your sweet tooth, do try out their Umm Ali. It was warm and really flavourful.
If you're a fan of cakes, there is also a chocolate & date cake which is yum, albeit just a small piece.
If you're looking for an ambience that is bright and classy, and also serves some good food, this is the place to go. This isn't a very big place, but the feel is nice.
