Akshar Pure Veg Restaurant
There are quite a few vegetarian restaurants coming up these days and some good thali places too. I did not know about this one earlier until the time I was searching for it online and I stumbled across it. Apart form thali, they also serve a la carte.
This one is located at the far end of Rolla Street.
They have their own parking, though not exactly valet. Their guy came with me in my car and showed me the way to their parking area which is located behind the building. The spot where I parked was a bit stinky and after parking there we entered the restaurants through their kitchen.
This wasn't a very pleasing initial experience; though it is better than having to find your own parking on a crowded street.
They have an different menu everyday for the thali and the same is updated on Zomato on a daily basis. We ordered the Gujarati thali which costs AED 42, and has more items compared to the punjabi thali which is for AED 32.
We went there on a Wednesday and on that day they had bhindi (okra), paneer (cottage cheese), aloo (potato), chawli (Black Eyed Peas) along with two dals. There's a choice of three Indian breads - phulka, puri, and rotla. For the farsan, there was dhokla and ghugra.
For dessert there was malpua and aamras.
The paneer was soft and I really liked the aloo. The dhokla was just the way I like it and the ghugra was yummy too. The sweet dal was delicious.
There was chaas too but it was ok.
Aamras felt great in this summer.
As expected at a thali place, the staff is attentive and you don't need to keep drawing their attention.
At the end of your meal, you can wash your hands right at the table.
There might be other options that are cheaper but the quality of food is really nice here and the place is spic and span.
