Turkish steak Restaurant - Jumeirah

I am a fan of Arabian food in general and love to try food from around the region. Turkish cuisine is different from the local food in UAE, but does have some similar dishes. I was really looking forward to trying out their food when I was invited here.

They have seating indoor as well as outdoor. They serve shisha outdoors, and also upstairs indoors.

We started with some tulum cheese salad. While it also had lettuce, tomatoes cucumber, and more, the tulum cheese definitely was the most prominent. It is a bit salty and has a nice flavour to it. The salad is also topped with walnuts, of which I'm not a big fan.

Then we moved on to the cold mix platter. This looked tempting when served; it had a few cold appetisers which we popular in this region - hummus, moutabbel, and the baba ghanoush. These tasted fresh and really good. There were also a couple of Turkish speciality appetisers. I really liked the Acili ezme which is made from tomatoes, onion, peppers, parsley, pomegranate, and various spices. It is a cold salad and worth a try. The other one was cacik which is a thick yoghurt with cucumbers and herbs. It had a nice and creamy consistency to it.

We had these cold starters with the huge hot Turkish bread.

For the drinks we had a blue curacao based mocktail, and it was refreshing.

We also had a fresh pomegranate juice.

Pide is the Turkish equivalent of manakeesh. They got us the mixed one. It had a part meat, part egg, and part cheese. I really liked the meat as well as the cheese side and it was served hot.

Another hot starter was the icli kofte. It is made from bulghur, minced lamb meat and onions. It did taste pretty good, though the salt was a bit less.

I think the most interesting thing was the kuzu kafes. They said they have a "fire show" outside, and I was wondering what that is. It is basically lamb ribs that they fire up in front of you; it is something you should really watch.
It goes without saying that the ribs tasted really delicious. The meat was well cooked, and was lightly spiced; all the flavours complemented each other very well.

For the sweet endings, we had the katmer which is an open pastry with ground pistachios and mascarpone cheese. It was served with ice-cream on top and tasted pretty good. It was hot and crispy.

The last one was the baklava. It is similar to what we get here, but this too has pistachios in it. It was huge; they opened it up and put some ice-cream in it, and then served it in our plate. It was delicious, and of-course really sweet.
The Turkish ice-cream is made from goat milk and hence tastes a bit different. It is also what gives it its sticky consistency.

If the baklava gets a bit too sweet for you, you can always have it with some Turkish Çay (turkish tea).

The staff here is friendly too, and the waiter serving us - Ercan (pronounced Arjan) was especially chatty and attentive.

I really liked the food, service, and the ambience here.
