Arsalan

We read that this restaurant has the flavours of Kolkatta and wrongly thought that it is the cuisine of West Bengal, which it isn't.

It was a weekend and it was really crowded; we thankfully got a table in time.

The service was slow that day and getting the attention of the staff was a bit difficult; though they were passing by and serving other tables, they were so busy with that, that they were hardly looking at other tables.

We started with the arsalan special assorted kebab platter. They took a long time to get it. It has mutton barra, fish tikka, chicken reshmi, chicken hariyali, and chicken tikka; 2 pieces of each. The fish tikka was nice and so was the chicken reshmi. The mutton barra looked great, but was okay to taste.

For our mains, we had the chicken kadhai. It tasted really good. It was spicy enough for our liking and was prepared well.

We had it along with the garlic naan and roti.

We ended our meal with the biryani. I personally like my biryani to have a good amount of masala and nice flavours to it, and this was quite the opposite. It was basically chicken and potato over rice. The rice tasted totally bland as if it was plain rice.  I agree that perhaps this is the type of biryani they serve and some people may like it, but it wasn't what I like.

The place also felt noisy and the tables were too close in proximity to each other which is something I dislike.

Perhaps it was our expectation, coupled along with the fact that it was a weekend which didn't quite make for a good experience.

P. S. We were really hungry and couldn't wait to eat, so the pictures aren't as good as my other posts.
