Bombay Dreams
This is a newly started multi-cuisine vegetarian restaurant in Oud Metha that I tried out recently.
It has a colourful decor to it.
They gave us some kachori bombs as a mini bite before we ordered the food. It was served in a very presentable way and tasted good too.
We started with the Rasam soup. It was brought in a french press and poured in cocktail glasses and served which was really interesting. Being a fan of rasam, I totally enjoyed this. It had nice spicy and tangy flavours to it.
For our first appetiser, we had the aloo tikki ragda chaat. The tikki was soft and the flavours were well balanced.
Not many restaurants have soya, but they did and we tried it out; it was the tandoori soya chaap. Soya by itself does taste a bit bland, but they had prepared it well and tasted really good with the marination that they used. It was served with bell peppers and mint chutney.
Another item that caught our attention was the batata hibuscus. It was a unique combination and if you like potatoes, this is certainly worth a try. It was served with the strawberry chutney using which they had made a design on the plate which looked artistic.
For our mains, we had the zafrani lachha paratha which was served hot and was soft and flakey too. It had a subtle flavour of zafran which we liked.
We had it along with dal punchmel which is a combination of five different types of dal along with kashmiri chilli. It did taste really delicious.
Last but not the least among our mains was the BD Biryani. As soon as it was served, we could get a lovely aroma, and the melange of the spices and different vegetables made it taste really good.
We ended on a sweet note with the ras malai. It wasn't as soft as expected though the taste was good enough.
We were expecting some interesting beverages from this contemporary multi-cuisine restaurant but they sadly had none; they just had soft drinks.
Also, as a restaurant that serves Indian vegetarian food (among other cuisines), we asked for some papads, but they didn't have those either.
Overall, the food tasted great and they have interesting dishes too.
