World Trade Club
The world trade club is located on the top floor (i.e. 33rd floor) of the world trade centre building (officially called shaikh Rashid tower). It consists of some really nice conference rooms and a lounge that serves food. They've launched a new menu that they invited me to try out. It goes without saying that the views are breathtaking.
We started with a berry-based mocktail that also had some cinnamon in it. It looked great, and tasted good enough.
We also had a mixed fruit mocktail which I personally liked more; though this one wasn't as much of a pleaser visually.
They have Indian, Italian, and Arabic cuisines as well as some fast food (burgers), and the interesting part is that they have a platter for each kind of cuisine. So if you're looking at sampling a few items from each cuisine and there are at least 2-3 people, then this is a good option. The platters are priced in the range of AED 80-120.
We started with the Indian platter. It consisted of a rice, dal, curry, fish, Indian bread, and a pineapple salad.
The most delicious item from this was the butter chicken. I could barely keep my hands off it. The gravy was on point, albeit a bit darker red than usual, and the chicken was well cooked too. It tasted great with the Indian bread that was crispy.
The dal makhani was just average, and so was the lemon rice.
The grilled fish was really nice. It was soft and flavourful too.
The pineapple salad tasted pretty good and was fresh.
The grilled salmon on the menu caught my attention so we called for one. This was made really well and served with a sauce that really did the magic. It was soft and we really liked it. They also serve some grilled vegetables along with it which further accentuate the taste.
They have some burgers that looked very tempting. They have buns of various colours too. We ordered the one with a green bun, and changed the original beef patty to a chicken one. The burger looked really appealing as you can tell, but it was a bit dry. The taste was just good enough.
For our final savoury dish, we had the ravioli. The texture of this one was not bad, but the taste was just about average. It wasn't something that quite appealed to us.
For dessert, we had a sicilian cannoli. It is an Italian dessert from Sicily that is shaped like a cannolo (tube). This did taste pretty good, but I've had better.
The other dessert was the pan baked brownie. If you're a brownie fan, then you'll like it. It was served with some ice-cream and berries on the side.
The sofas are comfortable, but not practical for dining. You end up being a bit far from the tables if you're comfortably seated on the sofas.
I would suggest going here for the views. You get a fantastic view of the trade centre area. It makes for a good place if you want to grab a coffee and chit-chat.
There is also free parking (subject to availability) for guests of the World Trade Club.
